I was a customer there for over 25 years. They used to provide excellent service for alternative medicine as well as prescription services. Since they have been bought by Shoppers Drug Mart, it is certainly not the same. The last drop: I phoned to renew a prescription for a chronic condition, and was misinformed as to the dates to benefit from the ODB, which would have caused an extra $30 cost to me. This was the third time I had problems, which had already cost me around $70. This time I finally decided to cancel the whole thing and change pharmacies. A reader must note that the Shoppers takeover of the Apothecary took place after the comments of bigoldeagle of Dec 2009. At that time I would certainly have agreed with that poster, and used to recommend the Apothecary myself to people not just in Ottawa but all over North America for their internet service. No longer. And it is a pity. If you want Shoppers Drug Mart, there is a large one two blocks down Bank Street. And a new one on the other side of the Canal, in Old Ottawa South at Bank & Sunnyside. The Glebe Apothecary is a misrepresentation, as it is no longer The Apothecary but a Shoppers DM trying to keep the Apothecary clientele.

Over the many years of my Fibromyalgia & associated illnesses, I have found that this dispensary of pharmacologicals has been of tremendous help to alleviate any anxiety I may have had about taking any form of medication prescribed to me by my physician, even to the substitution of some after consultation with my treating physician. You can not go wrong with the people who serve you from this pharmacy which i believe to be of the highest caliber in the city of Ottawa.
