Mount Stuart Hospital
Reviews
I first stayed at Mount Stewart in 2013 for a hip replacements. My treatment and impression of the hospital was such that when I knew I needed the other hip replaced in 2014 I didn't hesitate to book an appointment with the same consultant there. The hospital is more like a hotel with pleasant, comfortable reception - no plastic chairs here! All the corridors were spotlessly clean - more so than some big name hotels I have stayed at. The rooms are individual with their own shower and toilet. Recently a new wing has been added with new, larger, rooms each with a large wet room and facilities that would normally be found only in the grandest hotels. The staff were all pleasant and professional, and the food all freshly prepared - no packet soups! The surgeon and anesthetist both made visits to explain exactly what was to be done and check that I understood so I felt very confident that I would receive the best of care. Aftercare was excellent and the Physiotherapists were very efficient. In 2013 I was able to return home after 4 days and in 2014 I was well enough in just 3 - having achieved their criteria of walking the corridors and then walking unaided up and down flights of stairs! I would be totally unfair to compare this hospital with Torbay but having a choice - I would not hesitate to recommend Mount Stewart.
