On my first night in Soldotna for a fishing trip, I went to the ER after trying to abide with 2 hours of abdominal pain. I waited 2 hours because of a previous similar pain episode that was diagnosed as acid reflux. CPH took care of me very well, and verified gallstones using ultrasound. Compare this with my previous pain (same area) 7 months ago where my home hospital used X-ray and CT scan (or maybe it was MRI) to determine that my abdominal pain came from acid reflux. I now believe that pain was from gallstones as well. Anyhow, if CPH was going to do a CT (or MRI) scan, I would have asked in more detail about the need since either scan is very expensive. But the initial diagnosis at CPH seemed to zero in on my gall bladder. The initial diagnosis was done before they got any records from my home hospital. The ultrasound confirmed it, and apparently was the best way to confirm it. I underwent surgery a couple of hours later and was released later that afternoon. I have nothing but positive things to say about this hospital - from the admission process, to the nurses, to the doctors. As long as I had to suffer the pain, I'm glad I was treated at CPH. Oh, and when I got home today, I received a card with personal messages signed by the nurses that took care of me!

This is a terrible hospital. They ordered exams on my father that he did not need. Save yourself the trouble and make the drive to Anchorage.
