When I first saw Dr. Barcohana. I was in intense pain and could barely walk. I was suffering from severe spinal stenosis. Surgery was scheduled (I had already done an array of non-invasive procedures) and the day after surgery, I was walking pain free. One week after surgery, I am happy to say that I am walking a mile a day and thoroughly enjoying my life. Dr. Barcohana couldn't have been more compassionate and caring. He explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. I have nothing but praise for this doctor and his skills.

Unbelievably inconsiderate doctor. The moment he walked in he was unfriendly, and didn't care much about my problems. He gave me two simple tests and didn't even care to look at me thoroughly and diagnose my problem. He did his dictations in front of me and talked a mile per minute so I couldn't understand him. All in all, just a doctor who doesn't care about the humanistic aspect of the job and cares about $$$. Not to mention, SCOI (Southern California Orthopedic Institute) is filled with a plethora of inconsiderate people whom work at the receptionist area and as doctors assistants, and not to mention the doctors themselves. It took them 3 weeks to schedule a follow up appointment, yet they said they'd call me back immediately. When I called back, they said they had left numerous messages (an outright lie) and the women hung up the phone on me when I complained. It amazes me how these people still manage to keep a practice with this kind of ineptitude. And I have a serious problem in my neck and back, and the doctors could care less about it. I left the doctor 2 voicemails and he hasn't done anything to get back to me. What a shameful doctor, and a shameful place. Just outright despicable. Please, whatever you do, don't go see Dr. Barkohana and don't go to SCOI in Van Nuys.
