Ryan Greff - October 18, 2013

I had an appointment yesterday at 4:15pm on 10/16/2013. Came prepared with all of my paperwork filled out and insurance card ready and gave it to the front desk assistant. I sat in the waiting room for over 20 minutes. Nurse came in asked me back to take blood pressure and wait for the Doctor. I sat in the exam room for about 5 minutes when some other lady walked in the room and said that my insurance card was no good there and I had to pay cash. She said she could not get a hold of anybody on the phone from my insurance company so instead of honoring my appointment would not serve me unless I paid cash for my visit. She said my insurance card was only good at hospitals and they would not honor it. I briefly tried to explain to the lady that I had used the card several times for other Dr. Visits as I broke my arm in July and was in and out of the Doctors office a whole bunch and never got hassled like I did here. My deductible had been met in full a long time ago so did not make sense for me to pay cash when my insurance company was going to cover it. To make a long story short instead of saying mean things I just grabbed my jacket and left the office and said I will go see another podiatrist. Bottom line if you want to be hassled and have your time wasted come see Eagle-Summit Ankle clinic. If you would like to be treated with professional, courteous service go elsewhere my guess is you will be happy you did!

Possible Insurance Scam.I had no problem with the appointment but their billing practices are ridiculous. I was sold a $155 night splint without being told it was $155. Weeks later, I received the bill and wasn't allowed to return it. The reason I am so angry is that I went online found the company that makes the splint, found the exact night splint product and found out it was sold for $30. When I called to complain Dr. Mauer told me the price was increased because insurance usually paid for it and the increased cost help cover the cost of doing business. Ridiculous. I was able to get my bill slightly adjusted after calling 3 times to complain but am still paying the price for 3 night splints. I would have been A LOT better off going to a place that cared about its patients instead of this one that scams customers and insurance companies.
