Starling Eye Group
Reviews
I was recommended to Dr. Starling about 1 year ago. My experience with the office and staff has been wonderful. During my visits I was pleased to find a clean and comfortable atmosphere, with an inviting staff. My wait times were very short, and I was seen when my appointment was scheduled. They use technology to provide patients the best practices of vision care and efficiency. I order my contacts through the office, and they always arrive as promised. As a fellow professional in the community (I am a veterinarian), I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Starling and her office to friends, family, and colleagues. ~Dr. Seth Colman
As soon as you walk in the door of Starling Eye Group, you are welcomed by name by the friendly staff. It's almost like entering a spa - it is calm, smells good, and they clearly do not overbook! There is little wait and you can help yourself to water and magazines. I always get a very thorough exam and feel that my concerns are addressed. Dr. Starling and the staff are willing to work with you to get the best options available and within your budget. I recommend the practice to my friends and colleagues and will be bringing my children here when they need eye care. Follow-up August 2014: Still feel the say way about Starling Eye Group - they are great. I have gotten multi focal contacts, multifocal glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses. All staff are friendly and helpful and willing to see me as many times as needed to get what is best for me and within my budget. Will continue to go to Starling Eye Group.
I am a creature of habit and a firm follower of the “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” rule. Even though I have lived in the city of Gainesville since 2001, I drove to Ocala for my eye care. I finally switched and am laughing at myself for not doing this sooner. I have known Dr. Starling for several years and always enjoy seeing her at some of the charity events and fundraisers that we both support. “Buying Local” and giving back to the community” are two other rules that I try to follow, so I appreciate the fact that Starling Eye Group is a local business and that Dr. Starling puts her dollars back into the Gainesville community, not only personally and professionally, but also through support of local charities. Concerning my eye care: TOP NOTCH. The staff is friendly yet professional. I received a thorough exam at a reasonable price. I was pleasantly surprised when I was given a copy of my prescription. My previous Doctor did not do that. Starling Eye Group has a wonderful selection of frames and the staff was ready to assist in my purchase of new glasses, but there was no pressure to purchase the glasses that day. I highly recommend Starling Eye Group and Dr. Heather Starling. She will be my eye care professional for many years to come.
I am a UF who has worn glasses or contacts since the 1st Grade. That's right, first day of school BOOM! I can't see the chalkboard. So for me, my relationship with my eye doctor is very important. I was really hesitant to find one in Gainesville but then I came across Starling Eye Group. First of all they took my parent's obscure insurance! Second I could tell from their website and my appointment phone call how friendly and relaxing this process will be. My contacts/glasses exam was easy peasy, no long wait for the doctor, only thing was my prescription got worse but I'm used to that. Their staff is amazing and their prices are great, especially for a college student. I wear daily contacts so they can get expensive but Starling's prices are comparable to 1800Contacts which is the cheapest you can find. Plus they have Vera Bradley glass, so my insurance is paying for me to be stylish! Ultimately though it comes down to doctors and staff and everyone is amazing there and they really make you feel comfortable and keep your eyes healthy.
It is hard to say anything better than what most other happy clients have already said. I discovered Dr. Starling several years ago by winning the comprehensive eye exam that she donated as a silent auction item to a Children's Home Society charity event. It was the best auction item that I have ever won! She and her staff are fantastic! Plus, I appreciate businesspeople who give back to the community and support charities. I am a professional photographer, so my vision is extremely important. I have total trust in Dr. Starling and her staff. Everyone in the office is very friendly and professional. Unlike other doctors' offices, it is actually a pleasure going to appointments at the Starling Eye Group. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone! Update: I just had my annual exam recently... and as ALWAYS I had a great experience. Dr. Starling and her staff are always courteous and professional. And this is NOT a coerced statement... I am a real patient... and I am NOT influenced by the drawing for the iPad (well... to be honest, maybe a little... but I know that only one person will get it so my chances are slim... but I digress). On the contrary... I have posted my review because I truly believe that this a great office. I have been to other eye doctors both here in Gainesville and in other places that I have lived. Some I liked and some I didn't like. For instance, I was less than impressed with the previous local place that I went to even though it was recommended to me. The office was a little run down and it was not the doctor's full time office (I think that they were contracted to be there only a couple of days a week). In fact, I was never sure which doctor I would be seeing or if he/she would still be working at that office on my next visit. The office wasn't great nor was it horrible, so I found no need to post a review. It seems that many people (like myself) only post reviews when they are extremely happy or unhappy with a business. Sure Dr. Starling has asked for patient reviews. This is important not only for feedback, but it is extremely important with the current technology and search engines to have active postings (good, bad, or indifferent) in order to rank high on web searches. For those who own their own business, we know that this is vital. Since Dr. Starling makes periodic requests for reviews (with an incentive for a potential prize... which certainly does motivate some people), this is why there are clumps of reviews being posted. The fact that the majority of them are positive is a testament to our satisfaction. I personally don't have any complaints... so why shouldn't I give them 5 stars? I am sorry for anyone who believes that they had a bad experience at this office... that is your opinion and your are certainly entitled to it. Perhaps they weren't the right fit for you. Perhaps you expected something that wasn't realistic. Perhaps you came in with a bad attitude (which is not fair to their staff or any other business to have to deal with). Perhaps you had a legitimate complaint (which you should express and give them the opportunity to either correct or at least explain... like insurance company's policies which are beyond their control and therefore not their fault). Again... I state that I really like Dr. Starling and her office and I highly recommend them.
