My sister had major, life threatening back surgery ;and, Spring Lake administrators assured the surgeon at Mease Countryside Hospital that she would be transported by ambulance and that her medications would be available when she arrived. There was no ambulance; rather, there was a "truck' manned by two young obviously untrained and uncaring that gave the impression that they were doing the patient a favor by travelling 70 miles to pick her up. Arriving at about 8 P.M., The surgeon spoke to administrator and confirmed that all was taken care of. The patient was advised that the medications which were to be administered every two hours would not be available until 4 A.M. Efforts to determine who was in charge and might care were fruitless.
