Family & Children's Dentistry

RUN DO NOT ENTER you will be waiting forever to be seen.I waited 3 hours to be seen for sedation and there were no children in the waiting room. When you go to the back there are chairs and children everywhere. The dentist is nice but they are way to over booked and they act like they don't know it. DO A BETTER JOB!
Please beware of this dentist! PLEASE for the sake of your CHILD get a SECOND OPINION regarding your child’s treatment plan! I had a very unpleasant and damaging experience with Dr. Lott of Family and Children’s Dentistry. I am very vocal about this issue because I do not want another parent to endure what we have. My child has experience great trauma due to Dr. Lott’s unnecessary procedure of placing six crowns in a 4 year old mouth, when in fact two other dentists only recommended fillings. It is very unfortunate that I left Family and Children’s Dentistry for my child’s dental needs feeling “hustled”. I don’t like to use that term, however this was my exact experience. Dr. Lott started the sedation process, took additional x-rays and I then her staff advised me he needed additional work. I had to make a rush decision to allow her (I would say trust her) to complete this procedure because my child had already started the sedation process. Three weeks after they were installed one came out and another came out 3 months after installation. She did not educate me regarding how long the crowns would remain in his mouth and/or any risks associated with having them. I was under the impression that his teeth would shed around 6 years old, only to find out that the back teeth shed at 10-12 years old. After she reinstalled the 1st crown that came out, I was also advised by one of the staff members that he should not have anything sticky for the duration of him having the crowns because this could pull them out. For at least 7 years a 4 year old should not have anything sticky or risks crowns falling out? Absurd! All of this information should be presented to the client prior to service. Two other dentists reviewed his x-rays and determined he needed filings, explained why they would have started with fillings and would not have installed that many crowns in a child his age. My child did not have significant dental problems where crowns were needed. She promotes White Crowns and in my opinion skipped fillings to do what she wanted to do for profit. She does not do an effective job communicating with her clients. When I visited the two other dentists the experiences were like day and night. They educated me and displayed courteous bed side manner. I believe there should be an audit and/or peer review on Dr. Lott’s clients. She is systematically practicing deceptive trade. This area is of different socioeconomic backgrounds. The area in which she directly practices is low income. It's sad because I grew up in this area and like to patronize businesses in my community. I bring this up because many are unknowingly receiving unnecessary dental work and poor service. In a community that needs her, she is simply robbing the community. In addition, we paid an additional $25 for a “Premium Appointment” which allows you an early (8:30 a.m.) appointment time. I have visited several dentists and have never paid for an early appointment, nonetheless I paid it. Although, this was paid we were not seen until 10 a.m. I was charged $25 for X-rays my insurance company pays for. In addition, she's using brown paper towels as patient bibs. I noticed this once but thought perhaps she was out of supplies. The second time witnessing this, I was convinced this is standard practice. I mention this because although she will charge additional fees, she cannot provide quality dental material. These are examples of the overall greed of the provider. I inquired about pediatric dental service from two other parents and ironically they too visited Family and Children’s Dentistry for their children and experienced the same service from Dr. Lott. When a parent says, "I'm happy my child is alive" this is an indication that there is a problem at this facility. This is sad and in my opinion it is child abuse! Get a second opinion for the sake of your child before allowing her to perform a procedure.
I've been coming to this practice since I was a kid - and it's now where I take my children. My daughter recently needed fairly extensive work which required mild, local anesthesia. I was worried (naturally). But the staff and the doctor were kind and professional. They explained all the risks and made me feel both informed and comfortable. My daughter breezed through the procedure without complaint. And the work was excellent. Overall, the customer service and the professional service were top notch. And I didn't have to leave my community to get it. I will be back again and again. And the same goes for the adult services. This practice is still MY dentist of choice!
The care that I have received at Family & Children's Dentistry has been excellent. I like the way they share info with you about what to do in between visits to have a better vist the next time and to promote your good oral health. They really care about their patients.
This was my first time here and my youngest child had nothing but great things to say about her visit.
