If your thinking about grabbing ice cream at this particular store take some friendly advice and don't even entertain the thought. Save your money and go elsewhere where the ice cream has not gone bad. I have wasted so much time and money returning crappy product that I will not be giving them anymore of my business. I buy ice cream numerous times a week and about 70% to 80% of the ice cream I have purchased there has been poorly refrigerated (frozen) to the point of fermentation. Ben & Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch is rarely ever the way it should taste. Last time I checked Heath Bars were supposed to be crunchy not gooey. This is never a problem at Target or other nearby stores that carry the brand. Bad product along with unfriendly and at times downright rude employees and grossly overpriced goods is why I give Kona Safeway only one star.

I used to shop here all the time. Their prices are higher than lots of places, but they usually have everything I need. But lately they NEVER have more than one checker and expect everyone to do self check. I buy LOTS of produce and self check is time consuming and annoying for produce. I EXPECT that if I'm paying more shopping at Safeway to get a little SERVICE...............AT LEAST PAY SOMEONE TO TAKE MY MONEY!!!! I've started shopping at Sack and Save and KTA.

The Safeway in Kona was just like any other Safeway, but one thing stood out to me that was a negative...on two different occassions approximately a week apart, we visited the store for milk, amongst a lot of other things, however when I went to the milk refridgerator and opened the door I was hit in the face with an overwhelmingly strong odor of the most SOUR milk smell I have ever smelled in my life. Now we`ve all had the unpleasant experience of encountering a ``ripe`` jug of milk in our refridgerators but this smell was so much worse!! I can still smell it now as I recall it. Well I bought the milk with CAUTION and it turned out to be ok but everytime I took that milk out of the fridge in our condo, all I could think about was that rotten smell from the fridge at the Safeway. How any employee, supervisor, or manager could let that problem go on for a day let alone at least a WEEK is a mystery to me. And also they weren`t stocked well in the milk department, either of my two visits to that store. Costco just out on the edge of town turned out to be an awesome experience. Wish we`d gone there BEFORE the last few days of our 2-week stay in Kona.
