Unfortunately I had an extremely unpleasant experience here. Very unprofessional receptionist. I went in for my appointment as a new patient, and while filling out my paperwork I was informed that they did not accept my insurance (Humana). Ok, that's fine..so they said they take Humana EyeMed and several other types that I was not familiar with. So the lady looks at my insurance card and tells me there is no indication of any type of vision insurance on my card. Funny, since at my last eye doctor all I ever had to do was give them that same card and that was sufficient. So she tells me to call the number of the front of the card where it says "Caremark." Obviously she didn't know what she was talking about, since Caremark handles prescriptions only. So then she tells me to call a different number on the back of the card. At this point I'm pretty irritated. Isn't it the receptionist's job to call the insurance and find out the issue? Normally this wouldn't irritate me so much, but they were not busy. At all. Actually, I was the only patient there, and she was just sitting there staring at me the whole time. I deal with insurance companies every day (I work in a pharmacy) and I have never asked a patient to call their insurance company, since it is my JOB to fix issues and found out information. Anyway, while I'm on the phone talking to the representative, the receptionist is talking to me, (loudly) asking if I was finished filling out my paperwork as well as telling me what to say to the insurance representative. Wow, excuse me? First of all, I'm not getting an eye exam here if you don't even take my insurance. Second, if you're going to make me call the insurance to find out if this eye doctor is covered, don't talk to me in the middle of my conversation and tell me what to say. So after about 30 minutes I finally found out that this doctor is not covered by my insurance. I handed her my paperwork back and apologized, and she gave me a hateful look and muttered "ok." I don't have an opinion on the doctor here since I never actually met her, and I'm sure the rest of the place does a perfectly good job. But this receptionist was the problem. Needs a huge attitude adjustment and professional skills training.
