Elite Family Dentistry: Jonathan B. Turgeon, DDS
Reviews
I've had a great experience over the last several years with Dr. Turgeon. His office continues to improve every time they go to a new location and his staff is always great. He managed to find and fix the problems left by my last dentist and has kept everything in great shape since! He also has a great gentle touch, so much so that he's the only guy besides me who's allowed to put his hands in my wife's mouth! I've tried a lot of dentists in my years and he's the best I've found and probably the best in the Shreveport Bossier area. I highly reccomend this dental practice!
WARNING: Do not use Dr. Jonathan Turgeon at Elite Family Dentistry. I saw him and his staff when he was working for Haygood Dental Care. I had 2 crowns put on my bottom right molars (#30 & 31). Unfortunately about a year later, the very back tooth (#31) started to experience quite a lot of pain. I had since moved out of the area, so I went to a local dentist who took x-rays. The crown they placed on my tooth did not fit. There was a gap between the base of the crown and the gums, which lead to there being access for debris along the exposed tooth and gum line, which in turn lead to an abscess. My family contacted Dr. Haygood to see what could be done, and suggested a few options (fixing it even though that'd be difficult for me since I live in another state, getting a colleague in my area to fix it, or a refund so I could pay someone to fix it). While he wrote back and forth, in the end he pushed all the responsibily over to Dr. Turgeon, who wanted to charge me $900 for a root canal. Yes, pay for a root canal to deal with the abscess in the tooth that the poorly made crown they installed created, on top of having to drive 6+ hours each way. The people in his office keep claiming that a root canal is always "possible" with a crown, which may be true, but "being possible" doesn't negate the fact their crown exposed did not fit/exposed my tooth. It's equally possible I never would have needed one, had they done the job correctly in the first place. The bottom line is this: I paid handsomely for a crown, it was faulty (I have x-ray proof) and caused a very painful abscess, which neither Dr. has dealt with professionally. So if you value your money and your mouth, I'd go elsewhere.
