St. John's Hospital
Reviews
I went here on New Years Eve to the ER and was spoken to right when I walked in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They took my information and got me into a room right away. I waited very little for nurses or the doctor to see me and everyone was very professional. They didn't just push me aside when after a test or two they were unable to give me an answer. They made sure to give me options on what we could do next and explained everything as we went along. I left with answers and felt very good about them. They made sure I understood everything before I left and took care of everything for me. Also the staff that helped me with insurance information was amazing!! I went here with much hesitation due to the reviews I read here but I am glad I decided to go anyways. People need to remember most people only write reviews because of a bad experience and sometime the entire situation may not be explained. I would certainly recommend St. Johns ER.
Terribly rude and unprofessional staff. I went to the ER for 2nd degree burns. The nurse ripped the bandage off I had on and ripped off my blisters and 3-4 layers of my skin. The next layer would have been my muscle tissue according to a doctor who knows how to do her job the next day. She then asked why I was crying. I WAS IN PAIN! Then she had me wait for two hours. I got up and asked what the hold up was and there were at least 4 nurses/doctors who were standing around and laughing, taking it easy, and not attending to only two people in the ER. They told me they would see about someone looking at my bleeding, oozing burns. I waited 15 minutes and no one came so I told one of the nurse drinking coffee in the hallway I was leaving. They should be ashamed of themselves for not knowing how to address injuries and "emergencies!" There is an Allina urgent care a little ways north on Beam Ave. Go there and avoid St. John's like the plague, I waited for 30 minutes instead of 2 hours there to finally be treated by a competent nurse and doctor who confirmed that St. John's should not have ripped off the bandages and should have wet them first. The final point, there were 5 maybe 6 times as many people in the Allina urgent care, but their staff does their job.
Worst hospital ever! If you don't believe me, do your own investigation... Waited in the ER for 3 hours then taken to another room for 2. A snail can do circles around this ridiculous staff, I guess they truly get paid by the hour. I've been to better hospital in less fortunate area. Sad
You may die before you get to triage They may not take your situation seriously. But however if you make it they will save your life that is... if they find out what is wrong with you in time. They are not urgent at all when it comes to anything. However there are some wonderful nurses working in the first floor. Except one in the Emergeny room I caught Gossiping about our situation twice!! I hear there labor and delivery ward is great though.
I give the maternity care team & the lactation consult, Jane 5 stars! I had my first child at St Johns & it was a great experience - all of the nurses were professional, supportive & knowledgable. Nurse Connie was with us throughout the labor & was great! She made me feel so comfortable! Jane, the lactation consultation also was so helpful - I would not be breast feeding today if it weren't for her, she helped me & my daughter get the hang of nursing & 2 months later we are going strong. Even the food at St Johns wasn't bad for hospital food. I will definitely be returning when I decide to have another baby.
