Walmart Supercenter
Reviews
This Walmart is wrong on every level of customer service and management! Came to visit my family in NH for the weekend and since where I live in New York there is no Walmart with auto center I wanted to get my tires changed. I call the day before and scheduled for a 4pm appt. I went 20 mins early which it took just that long to even check in because the lady at the auto service was that slow. I purposely wanted to make sure my car was in on time to be somewhere for 6 pm. When I was given the barcode to scan at any pricing spot to check the status of my car, I thought it was neat as I shop with my family. After scanning it a few times and it saying "waiting" I wasn't sure if it meant it was waiting to go into garage or being worked on. I went back to the auto counter and now there's another lady. She tells me that it's being work on. I honestly didn't believe her and good thing I checked from the customer window to the garage because my car was still in the parking lot where I left it. Now there are 3 stations and only one was being used with 2 techs working on one car. I informed her that I have a scheduled appt at 4pm, it's now after 4:30 and I have to be somewhere at 6. She then says she will let the techs know but she just came back from break and did not know that I had an appt. After telling the techs she comes back and tells me that they are doing it now and they will both work on it. My car is pulled in around 4:45, I see it go up and then down. Only 1 tech working on it as the other is now working on another car. The tech that lifted up my car comes to the lady and speaks quietly to her. I asked what is wrong and she tells me that he needs to speak to me. A manager comes to speak to him, completely ignoring me and goes to the garage together. I now see them looking at the side of my car and discussing something. Several minutes later the manager David tells me that my car is rusty on the bottom and the tech had a hard time finding a place where he can safely lift the car, but with his assistant they were able to find a spot. It is now 5:10. I then asked me how long it will take and I'm told 10 mins for each tire for him to do (clearly not 2 techs as I was initially told by the lady). I told asked them to cancel it because it would not get done in time to be where I need to be a 6. I told David how disappointed I am when I scheduled the appt and it only upon my inquiry that it was brought in. Of course he apologized as any manager is trained to do. At the end I still do not have my tires and wasted 2 hrs if my time. He offers for me to come back which is not feasible as I live out of state. After leaving to where I needed to be, my husband checked the car to find out that the bottom of my car was bent!! The tech and David failed to inform me. My car is not new by any means and have been worked on a few months before. It was never any issue to any mechanic before getting on a lift. I say all this to say that the people working here are horrible, which I should have taken the advices of all the reviews here! I called corporate and expressed my horrible experience. Supposedly I will be getting a phone call from the store. I have never called corporate for any store before but I'm pissed that I was not told of the damage they did to my car!
It seems odd that all the previous reviews are mostly negative. I've been to this Walmart many times over the past 15 years and I have always found it to be above and beyond other Walmart stores I have been to across the country. What does the shrewd shopper really want? The Taj Majal? It's a department store/grocery store for heaven's sake! I always find what I am looking for no matter when I go there. Nothing is ever out of stock which can be a royal pain when going to other "super" stores, which there really aren't any. Where else can you just walk into a store and get everything you possibly need from motor oil to shopping cart full of groceries? This place saves me so much time and there is nothing really negative to say. The price guarantee is something I never use, but is a really admirable thing for the company to offer.
Will not shop Walmart Stores anymore, thanks to our treatment at this particular store yesterday. Never have we (age 47) been denied the right to purchase beer, because we had our family with us. My sons 14 and 22 years and a girlfriend (20). Cashier was rude. She rang up my order including the beer and then asked if they were all our children and I said all but one. She requested the girlfriend's ID, not mine or my husbands, not even my sons, but she didn't have her id with her because she wasn't purchasing anything; we were! Called over the manager and the manager claimed that she can't override the cashier's decision. Really, then why are you a Manager, if you have no say over a cashier? Done with Walmart and all their unfair treatment of employees and now customers! So long and we will spread the word!
I brought my car to the tire center at the Salem NH Walmart store. I had called ahead to verify that the Douglas Xtra Trac II tires that were on sale for 49.50 were in stock. I had checked online that these tires would fit my car. When I dropped my car off for the installation, the woman at the desk verified they could install the tires and that they could also do an oil change on my vehicle. She informed me the wait time would be approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. I agreed to that and signed the form on her handheld computer and went shopping with my son. After 1 hour and 40 minutes, I returned to find my car in the garage, with no work being performed on it. I asked the male tech at the counter about the progress and was told that the tires I had asked for would not fit my car. When I explained that I had looked it up online and that they would, he raised his voice and in a condescending manner said "the card for you car says you can not buy a T tire or an S tire, you have to have an H tire." He then looked up on the computer and found they only had one tire that would fit my car and it cost nearly twice as much. I said no to this. I asked him if they had done the oil change he said he would check. He went into to the service area, returned and said that they had not done the oil change and that he had told the staff to pull the car out of the garage and return my key. There was no apology for the confusion or what I found out from talking to a tire tech at another chain, complete and total error and waste of time, because the tires I asked for will fit and are appropriate for my car, it is the SL model that requires the "h" tire. What I did receive for my mistake in coming to this tire center was a large grease stain on my armrest and steering wheel which took no less that three requests, and another 20 minutes to take care of. It was not totally removed. I shall never again go to this service center and will warn everyone I know to avoid it as well.
Bought a farberware pots and pans set which included an old, mismatched crockpot. Clearly someone had bought the set to take the new crockpot out, put an old one inside and returned it. Walmart did not check the set before placing it back on the shelf and I was the unlucky new buyer. When I called customer service the lady was SO rude. She said I would have to drive back to the store to return the set to get it exchanged for a new one. She spoke quickly and when I asked for clarification she had an "are you stupid" attitude in her tone of voice. Will never go to the Walmart in Salem NH again, and although that won't put a dent in their sales, I am sure this will happen to others as well.
