Personally I will NEVER return to Envisions Eye Care Center (operated by John S. Corvese). They are disorganized, unsanitary, and the staff are rude or just not very bright. Due to restrictions with United Health, which only covers optometrists on their “standard vision rider,” I made an apt at Envisions Eye Care Center (1970 Pawtucket Ave. East Providence, RI 02914) for a vision exam and to be fitted for contact lenses. (Damn char count limits) I arrived a few minutes early for my first apt and had to wait over half an hour to be seen. The intern Jared called me in to test my peripheral vision. As he went to make notes in my file, I saw that the file was not mine. I told him that my name was not “Rachel Oliveira.” Without apologizing or acknowledging the error, he left the examination room for several moments to get my correct file. When he was done, he sent me back out to wait for my vision exam. When Dr. Smiley finally called me in, he tested my vision, and then acted as if he was done with me. I reminded him that I was supposed to be fitted for contacts as well. He perused my file. Then, rather than admitting the error or apologizing, he stammered, “Well, uh, I uh…. If I do that now... since I already put the drops in, your eyes will be scratched. Can you come back?” I told him that I had made the apt to have it all done in one day because it was inconvenient to come back. When he called me in again to measure the curvature of my eye for the contact lenses, he had Jared with him, to teach him how to use the machiner. In an attempt to turn the machine on, Dr. Smiley repeatedly flicked the switch back and forth. I pointed out to him that a wire on the machine was severed. He jiggled the severed wire a few times, then continued to flick the on/off switch. I repeated to him that the wire was severed, not simply loose. We waited to use Dr. Corvese’s machine. After measuring the curvature of my eye, he told me that I had to try the lenses on so he could see how they fit. Very alarmed, I reminded him that he had told me that my eyes would be scratched. To which he stammered, “Well, yes, uh… what I should have said was that if you left here wearing them today, there’s a ‘possibility’ they would be scratched.” I suggested to him that I try them on at home instead, after the drops were no longer an issue. He seemed very relieved. They charged me $60, which was more than they had quoted ($40 for a single vision fitting). I told the receptionist that the reason I had to return was because he had forgotten to fit me for the contact lenses prior to putting the drops in my eyes. She rudely retorted that, “No. The REASON the DOCTOR wants you BACK is so he can see how you are after a few days.” I didn’t bother telling her that she was full of $h1t. At my next apt, Dr. Smiley called me in, and instructed me to place my chin upon the chin-rest of the apparatus. I stared in horror at the sanitary tissue paper on the chin rest which was raised, as if it had been half pulled off by a pimple on the previous patient’s chin; it had a red and yellow pus stain on it. He quickly pulled it off, without a word or an apology, and finished the fitting. I ordered my prescription (due to restrictions with my health ins) and left, completely and thoroughly disgusted. I returned one final time to pick-up my lenses . The woman at the desk acted as if she were doing us a great favor by waiting on us, saying that they weren’t usually open on Saturdays. (My previous two apts had been on Saturday). Then she charged me $6 more than they had initially quoted. When I asked her why it was more, she said “Oh when you called in I forgot to tell you there was a $6 shipping fee.” I told her that I hadn’t called in, that I had ordered the prescription in person at my apt two Saturdays prior, that the service I had received had been terrible and that I would not be coming back. Not a single apology for the horrible, unprofessional, unsanitary service they provide.

I was very pleased with the service Dr covese and office manager annelise provided to me....I went for a contact fitting and I was very happy with the service. I would recomend envisions eyecare to anyone...my kids also go there and they are very nice with the kids....I read a very negative comment from another costumer, I can not believe she had the time to post an entire book about it...all I can say about that is build a bridge and get over it...I have been a patien od envisions for a long time.. will never change them..

The receptionist was terrible! She was rude, insulting and disrespectful. The customer service was terrible. I'm reporting them to whoever I can!
