I called and went to this office on Sat. 6/24/14 because my tooth was killing me and this is the only place I could find that would see me. It was understandable to be open on Saturdays that they would charge fee up front and then supposedly bill your insurance company (I hope: they said it could take up to 14 days). Anyway, the tooth broke apart and was pulled out by each root. I noticed the Dentist bedside manners were poor but I was there to have a tooth pulled. The last root caused concern but Dentist believed it finally pulled out (vacuum sucked it up before he could see it. 9 days later I was still hurting and concerned that maybe he had not got all of the last root because I could feel it and had a good bit of pain (I'm 59 years old so I am used to some pain). I went back to him and could not believe the way I was treated. The dentist was upset that I had come back, explained that if my leg was broke and in a cast, wouldn't it still hurt. I told him I had a tooth pulled not a broke leg. He went on to expound on the fact of how I should not let my tongue touch this area and then I would not feel all the splinters sticking up. I explained that I had another time had a tooth pulled and had a piece left in that I went back to dentist and he pulled out and said it could have been touching on a nerve. This dentist couldn't believe he said that and demanded to me "IT"S NOT TOUCHING ANY NERVES" He took his pliers and went into my mouth and broke off the bone fragments that were sticking up (no type of sedation or shot). He showed me his elbow to explain it being a bone and if it was broke and repaired it would take time to heal. Look, he could have said and explained all this in a correct way without dehumanizing the patient and making you feel like you owed him an apology for his spending 1 minute of his time with you. After all this I decided I would get a copy of the mouth xrays which I had paid dearly for. I was told this would be another $25 to get a copy. I said , fine, I wanted the copy. They wanted cash and when I tried to give credit card, wanted to know if I didn't have $25 cash to keep them from filling out all these forms. They asked me to go to car and see if my wife had cash. I told them I had the same credit card that I had paid the $370 Saturday to have the tooth pulled. I was lectured on being (the young generation) HAHA me at 59 by a 67 year old receptionist who said her and her husband used cash for everything. She finally took my credit card and explained that I wouldn't understand why she had wanted cash. Then asked for my pin #. I told her she did not need a pin # for my credit card. She said she did and that also it was going to cost the dentist to use my credit card ( a percentage). I told her I used my card at Dollar General and everywhere and they never asked for my pin #. Anyway she finally used the credit card the correct way, I got my xrays and I was gone. I'm very curious of their "CASH ONLY PLEASE IF POSSIBLE POLICY" If my dog was dying with a toothache, I'm not sure I would take him there. PS The only good thing I can say is they had an assistant, she kept quiet but just her look was apologetic as to the way the patient was being treated. I thank her for her kindness. I'm sure she won't be there long. Roger Smoak Georgetown, SC
This place is a joke. Front desk woman couldn't figure out how delta dental worked. Wanted close to $300 for xrays. We were there over an hour and accomplished nothing. Do not go here.
When I was in pain, I called several offices trying to see a dentist. Dr. Murph saw me right away and got me out of pain and back to work in less than an hour. I have been back several times and the people are always nice and you are always seen on time and are seen quickly. I recommend them to anyone, especially if you have a job and can not afford to waste your time sitting around waiting to be seen.
Just called this office and they were sooooo rude! After telling the lady what I needed done she told me how the do their payments so I told her I would call her back after speaking with someone else and she said whatever and hung up on me!
I was on vacation in Myrtle Beach when my toothache overwhelmed me. It was 10:30 at night and I was in screaming pain. I found Tommy Murph at American Dental on my I-phone and called....nowing nobody would answer that late at night....somehow I survived the night and the next morning I got a callback from the office and they said to come right in. My tooth was extracted by noon and I was back on the beach by 3 PM . He is a great dentist, explained every step to me, did his work skillfully and with relatively little pain. He even did a bone graft for me for a future dental implant to rplace the removed tooth. I am 66 years old and not easy to please but I got to give this guy the highest praise. I never even needed to take the pain pills he prescribed for afterwards. I only with he was nearer to Pennsylvania so I could make him my regular dentist. By Bruce, Wayne PA
