Johnson City Medical Center Family Birth Center

After a plane crash, I was helicoptered in to Johnson City with severe damage to my spine. Upon arrival at Johnson City, I was wheeled into the ER to an awaiting team of about 11 specialists and nurses. I was promptly evaluated and sent off for the appropriate scans and tests. Within a short time, I was in ICU, stitched, stabilized, and comfortable. My neurosurgeon let me use his cell phone to call my son. My surgeon explained the injuries, as well as the pre-existing spinal stenosis, and the repairs that he would be doing during surgery the next day. Soon, I was off to a private room that was still ICU. I'll skip the next day or so as I was mostly unconscious! But soon I was recovering and in a private room. The staff could not have been more attentive nor more efficient. EVERYTHING was just about perfect. Meals were actually good, plus I could order individual items at any time of day or night. The day after surgery, they had me up and walking (with assistance) and although my injuries were extensive, I got better rapidly. So, while it was just chance that brought me to Johnson City, I would absolutely choose it for anything elective.

They were very nice to me and my wife they were very nice to me and my family they waited on us in less than ten seconds and they were very truthful to use and the room was very clean!!!!!

Horrible service, DO NOT GO HERE!!. The ER was empty, yet I had to wait nearly an hour until someone finally came to get me. The doctor was a complete d**k and thought we were on drugs (we were not). The ER nursing staff talked about my wife and I behind our backs regarding a previous visit and other personal (non-medical) issues. They violated our privacy which is a HIPPA violation! Do yourself a favor, go to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport if at all able. It's like a difference between night and day.

Admitted for after 2 1/2 hours of vomiting, no fluids were given to me during my stay I needed a physical therapy procedure done to stop the dizziness and after 38 hours no one came, we found out after 2 hours of complaints that the physical therapy area is empty and they don't know how to do the procedure anyway, I had the procedure done by a Chiropractor and it worked well. After all the unnecessary tests they had no clue what to do. I was admitted for "observation"! What a horrible term to use since almost NO one took care of me.

Nice clean hospital. Very kind and helpful nursing staff.
