I was recently hospitalized in ICU at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, VA. I received outstanding care! I could not have asked for any better treatment. I would like to thank my nurses, Wendy, Rhonda, Brook and Aaron for the outstanding care they provided. Thank you so much for your understanding, as I know I am not an easy patient considering my hyperactivity. I would particularly like to thank Rhonda, who was my day nurse. Rhonda, your sense of humor, compassion and understanding made my experience so much better! You deserve a a medal!
I was in LGH for 70 days with TTP and received great care. In fact they saved my life. I will be so ever grateful to all the employees who are willing to help the sick and injured. People need to realized that they are not the only one that needs help when they enter a hospital. I've had six surgeries in the past two years at LGH and recommend this hospital to all.
I've worked in medical coding+billing for over seven years and have never dealt with anyone as obstinate as this. Their chargemaster is more insane than most, and your insurance matters little. A simple two view finger x-ray and NP visit (not even seeing a doctor) will set you back 1k, or a "mere" $450.00 if you have insurance. Stay away from this hospital if you have any type of private insurance.
I brought my friend to L-G's ER last year when she cut her hand very badly while cooking. The staff was very friendly, she didn't even have to sit in the waiting room because they took her right back, got her stitched up and we were in and out of there in a little over an hour. I personally have gone to their ER twice, both times I was very happy with the care I was given, the doctors and nurses were very nice and treated me very well. I am highly satisfied with this hospital.
It's never a good sign with 6+ hours into your ER visit the doctor comes in and asks you if you're feeling any better since they started the meds...............and I had not been given any meds at that point. I chose LG because it was closer to where I was but I don't know that I'll go back there again. The one nurse was very nice but overall the staff was unattentive, forgot to attach me to the BP unit or heart monitor when I was in the possible heart issues. On a scale of 1-10 I would give my experience there a 2-3 at best and that's only because of the 1 nice nurse. When the doc doesn't know whether you've been given meds and you have to be asked to be hooked up to monitoring equipment it doesn't say much. Not to mention the 5 tries it took for them to get an IV started throughout my time. Woudln't recommend this joint at all.
