Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)
Reviews
Just returned from a six hour visit to this hospital with my daughter who had sky high blood pressure. After extensive tests it was discovered that her kidneys were functioning at 10% less than they should be. So now she has to go to the renal clinic in a couple of weeks and at least they are onto the problem now. All the staff were incredibly efficient and so nice and friendly. We were overwhelmed by the service and care. The NHS suffers because of the cuts and pressure of targets etc so I am in awe of the dedication and tireless attention to detail of these people we met today. I would like to say a particular big thanks to GP Hunt. She was marvellous.
The care I received was first class in al respects. The nursing staff were caring, friendly efficient and treated all the patients with dignity and humour. The doctors explained everything they were planning to do and gave reasons. Even the catering was good. If you have to go to hospital try to make it this one
My wife was admitted to Treliske yesterday for a full hysterectomy. We were told to arrive at 7.30am. We arrived at the appointed ward, in good time, and sat with another 9 ladies, awaiting various operations, for a further two hours. At no time were any of the patients informed of the forth coming schedules, procedures or time frames. Information was "non existant" !!! There was a lady in her 30's with cancer awaiting a cannula implant. at 9.00am she was told to change into her dressing gown. She then returned to the waiting room and sat with us for a further 45 minutes. She was then told that she needed to get dressed again and come back later on in the afternoon as they had made a mistake with her appointment !!! There were elderly ladies sitting with us that became confused and anxious due directly to the lack of information and time delays experienced. Our personal experience was no better. We had no idea of the exact operation procedure until my wife spoke with her consultant at 9.30am. We had no idea as to the time frame or amount of days she would be expected to remain in hospital. I was told that my wife should be out of surgery by about 1.00pm. I waited from 10.00am until 4.00pm in a designated waiting room and at no time did a nurse or any member of staff make any effort to update me as to my wife's situation. I became anxious and eventually approached the ward nurse at 3.00pm to ask if she could give me any update. I was told to remain in the waiting room and she would let me know once my wife had come up from the operating room. A further hour passed and I had heard nothing so I, once again, approached the reception and was told my wife had been in the ward for 30 minutes. Nobody had bothered to tell me !!! It was blatantly obvious throughout the whole procedure that the level of patient and their relatives care is virtually non existent. Patients are treated as cattle. It is all statistic based with no interest in the quality of human kindness provided. I could continue.. A 92 year old lady being ignored and eventually urinating in her own sick bowl because no nurse came to her assistance. My wife in pain only to find her catheter had remaind unchecked and been full all night.... I saw and experience this and more in 24 hour's !!! OUR ROYAL CORNWALL HOSPITAL IS A DISGRACE. !!!
Went there with injuries from a motorbike accident. I cannot fault the treatment and care I received and all the staff I met were friendly and helpful.
your team is a very good help when i was pregnant with my son
