My 3-year-old daughter had an abscess (infection in the root of the tooth), with a white spot above the first incisor. They took X-rays of her teeth, but the dentist spent little to no time actually looking at her mouth, and relied mainly on the X-ray to determine which tooth had the abscess. He said both the front and incisor looked suspect, and recommended taking out one of them. I didn't realize he recommended taking out the front until the day of the extraction (tooth pulling). Then when the assistant (not sure if the dentist was present for the extraction as they do not allow parents to be with the child during any dental procedure) asked me if it was OK to take out the front tooth, I said "no" that I didn't believe it was the right tooth. The assistant argued with me, until I finally agreed to let them extract the front tooth. This tooth and root was straight and white with no signs of decay except for a filled cavity. A month later the abscess returned. We finally went to another dentist since our insurance would not work with Family Dental Team. The first incisor was extracted and was yellow with holes looking like Swiss Cheese, and the abscess has not returned since (about 6 months). It has been a difficult event for my daughter, who had been afraid of the dentist while with Family Dental Team (now she likes our new dentist), and has had a lot of comments on her missing teeth. I would not recommend this team.
