Island Dentistry

Dr. Schulte and the hygienists have always make me feel at home. They not only explain everything they're doing and why, but they teach you the anatomy behind it. Leaving my old dentist and coming to Island Dentistry was one of the best decisions I've made!
After an extended period of time away from my hometown, I returned to Orange Park several years ago. I needed to establish a relationship with a Dentist and responded to an add which featured a nominal fee for a New Patient Checkup. On my initial visit, my first impression was most favorable. Immediately I was put at ease by the pleasant decor, followed by a big smile and a warm greeting at the front desk. Signing in and getting established was fast and efficient thanks to the professionalism of the Receptionist. No sooner had I landed in a chair in the waiting room, my name was called by another smiling face. As I entered the work area it was quite obvious this was a new facility with all the latest technology ready and waiting to accomodate me. I was not dissappointed. The theme of efficiency and pleasant service carried through my entire visit. I left most satisfied and with a "Dental Plan" for future services required. After several most agreeable visits to correct dental issues that I had ignored for years, I saved the worst for last; or so I thought. I required a new Crown to replace one that had failed after 22 years. Based upon past experiences at other Dental Offices, I knew that a Crown required at least 3 visits accompanied by 3 reasons to miss work. One to prepare the tooth and install a "temporary" Crown. One to reapply the Temporary Crown that inevitably winds up tumbling around inside your mouth. And finally, one to set the Permanent Crown. Imagine my amazement when I was seated in the chair and a camera wand was expertly waved around my tooth and I watched my Crown being digitally assembled on the computer monitor. From there, my friendly and competent Technician asked if I would like to see my Crown being manufactured; right there; right then. Of course I would and did! 11 minutes later my Crown was ready and very shortly thereafter, completed. Done. Unbelievable. No grinding, chiseling, beating, banging, or otherwise causing a fit. It fit, perfect. Done. One hour and 45 minutes! One visit. Bravo Island Dentistry. I hope I never need anything more than a cleaning from you ever again. But if I do, I know it will be a great experience. Thank you.
Thumbs way up to Dr. Scales and his staff at Island Dentistry in Fleming Island! I truly believe we have found our dental home. After many nightmare visits to other dentists with my three kids, I never thought I would ever be able to give such a raving review. The professional and caring manner in which every procedure was carried out, in my opinion, cannot be matched. And, when I was offered different options as far as treatment plans and payment plans, I was taken aback. I've never really had a "choice" before! Even though I am struggling financially, these folks have made it a reality for my kids to get their teeth fixed. And, the ability to have crowns done in ONE visit with Cerec technology at roughly the same price as traditional crowns that take WEEKS, well...that simply puts it over the edge for me! The only thing that I can think of that I would rate a little lower is the $100 charge for not cancelling within 24 hours. I truly understand the reasoning behind this as several hours may dedicated for a restorative appointment, which means losing money and time. However, it is my opinion that "life" happens, and sometimes it occurs at the most inconvenient times. A suggestion, perhaps, would be "missed appointment forgiveness," say, once or twice a year. I believe this would help those who really try (and those who are extremely limited financially) while preventing repeat offenders from "taking advantage" of all the hard work put in by Dr. Scales and his staff. Regardless of how I feel about this fee, I think Island Dentistry in Fleming Island has reached the apex of excellence in the field of dentistry.
IMy family has been going to Island Dentistry for at least 10 years now. I've always had an excellent experience there from the office staff, hygienists, to Dr. Scales. In most recent years they have added some different office staff up front and they are exceptional. My hygienist Mindy is top notch. Dr. Scales always does a great job and caught a potentially harmful condition I had a few years ago and I was fixed up. I would recommend Island Dentistry to anyone looking in the Fleming Island/OP area.
I was recommended to Dr. Scales by a friend. From the first phone call to the initial visit, I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and customer service skills of Dr. Scales' staff. Doris spent about 20 minutes listening to my concerns and my dental needs. She explained their procedures in detail and until she felt that I was comfortable with how they would be able to help me. Lynn was just as eager to make my visit comfortable and reassuring. Dr. Scales was very reassuring and I felt that my overal dental health was very important to him and that cosmetics would come after. I am now set up with a plan that satisfies my initial request for my visit and I am actually looking forward to working with Dr. Scales and his staff. Thank you to everyone.
