This office's receptionist is very friendly, the hygienist average, but the doctor was the most unprofessional medical practitioner I have ever encountered. On our very first visit, my husband and I went in for routine cleanings and x rays. It was our first visit and the receptionist informed us that they would accept our insurance as payment for the first visit but no subsequent visits. We understood, and decided that if we liked the dentist we would certainly go back and pay out of pocket since we are planning to drop the insurance and no one in town will accept it anyway. As I had x-rays and then sat in the chair to have my teeth cleaned (almost 2 hours total from start to finish for the entire visit), my husband, also in for a cleaning, received x- rays but no cleaning. The hygienist told him he had major problems, and then proceeded to discuss her "diagnosis" with him during the time she should have been cleaning his teeth. Then she called in the dentist, who spent more time discussing his "options" (to the tune of major bucks including pulling all of his bottom teeth- yikes!) When two hours were up, the husband left with an estimate of $1027 to "deep clean" his teeth on another day and much more to do all of the other procedures he "needed" (without insurance since they only would accept it that first time.) I didn't know this until we got in the car and was furious. He was angry too since he had taken off of work to go in for the appointment. I felt like the old "bait and switch" had been pulled on him. What bothered me the most was the dentist's demeanor - he sounded like a car salesman! He didn't introduce himself or ask if I was having any problems, no small talk whatsoever; just gruffly jumped right into "Are you interested in having any of your missing (back) teeth replaced?" then "Are you interested in getting braces?" I'm 48 years old and haven't heard that since I was 12. He glanced at my x-rays, tapped on a tooth that was giving my pain, then typed away into his computer. He then presented me with a paper estimate to fill my cavity (in another tooth) and another for the $1027" deep clean" of the husband's teeth next visit. Oh and reminded me that they would not accept the insurance next visit. It seemed that the dentist was primarily interested in "up-selling" his services and making a lot more money. His bedside manner was gruff and he was not personable at all. If my husband's teeth were so bad, why didn't they at least give him the routine cleaning on this visit, that we were expecting and book the appointment for, then discuss him coming back again for the "deep cleaning?" Because his general health and well- being were not of concern to the dentist. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone.
