Family Dermatology of Lilburn

I went for a visit in Feb of 2012, and they were paid by my insurance company shortly thereafter. For 18 months, they kept trying to re-bill the insurance company for the same appointment - which my insurance company rejected every time (as they had already paid it). Fast forward to yesterday (mid August, 2014), and I have a phone call from a bill collector saying that I owed Family Derm $13.90 and my credit would be dinged unless I made immediate payment. Then I got a letter in the mail that same afternoon from the same collection agency that said it was $71.33. When I called Family Derm's billing department, I got an answering machine saying that "due to high call volume, your call will be returned in 3-5 business days". At least the debt collector said the $70 charge was an error and that it was only $10 that I owed (and to kindly pay up before my credit would be ruined). So if you like phantom bills for years, a ton of rejected EOB's from your insurance company, threats to trash your credit report over $10, no $70, no wait, just $10, then Family Derm is the place for you!
the billing definitely is a problem, received an invoice for $5.00 for something done years ago, this should have been written off, but since you sent the invoice I attempted to pay. Can't make a payment by phone as it suggests, you have to leave a message, no one calls back, I sent an email which responds with an out of office response stating to call the payment line. I called the office for the receptionist to tell me there was no balance WTH!
Freehold location closed with out notice! Showed up for an appointment doors closed!....No medical records given out and then sent a bill from 8 months ago...tried to call billing and you have to leave a message...no one has called its been 2 weeks!
Dr. Russell & his P.A., Amanda Goldner are very competent as it relates to Dermatology services. Dr. Russell is very personable w/ good bedside manner. Family Dermatology's billing services, however is absolutely dreadful. I received a bill dated 9/16/2013 for services provided back in 11/9/2009. Calls to F.D.'s billing dept went unanswered/unreturned. Emails were also unanswered by F.D. I opted to call the number for appts. and requested to speak w/ an office manager. Only then did I get a live person on the phone from the billing department. If you use "flex dollars" for medical services, I would certainly steer clear of Family Dermatology because of their incompetent billing practices. Needless to say I'm shopping for new dermatologist for my family.
terrible terrible! never go there.
