First it took me 4 months to get my daughter in for her first visit. The nurse who saw my daughter (who was three and her first time to see a real dentist outside of military care) was awesome. She was great with my daughter and made her feel at ease. She was very kind to her and talked to her like she was important. Dr Lucas on the other hand, good god I would never bring her back to him. He took 15 mins to get in after the nurse saw my daughter. When he finally graced us with his appearance he didn’t acknowledge us or even introduce himself (we were new patients). He told my 3 yr old daughter to lean back, turned on the bright light with no warning right into her eyes, she was obviously shaken because she had no idea what was going on. Dr Lucas told her to open wide and obviously (she was SHAKING) scared I had to calm her down and let her know she was ok, he didn’t acknowledge her fear just told her to open wide again and moved the light from her eyes to her mouth. I told her it was ok and he just wanted to look at her teeth. Dr. Lucas took MAYBE one minute to look in her mouth and say "she's fine, no cavities" and freaking left! I mean seriously, how annoyed was I that his bedside manner was atrocious, horrible and just disgusting. I had to comfort my daughter after that event that should had been easy, but Dr. Lucas made NO FREAKING attempt to introduce himself, calm her, or even acknowledge a situation. The nurse who was awesome asked if we would like to schedule the 6 month exam and i told her no. I am not going to bring my daughter back to him. He made us feel like a dollar amount, didn’t have any bedside manner and definitely should not be seeing children.
