Wonderful staff, they were very nice and accommodating... I took my grandson in for a procedure on 10/15/2013, The Dr. was very personable, he explained everything thoroughly... I would recommend Dr.Ellis to anyone......
I went to Dr. Ellis for wisdom teeth extraction, and he was very swift. It took him about 30 minutes to complete the job. That said, I found the beside manner at this place unsettling. The assistants are surly and somewhat rude. They also aren't very compassionate or concerned about their patients. I'm sure they probably take this cue from Dr. Ellis, who walked in moments before my procedure and didn't even make eye contact with me. He sat in a chair facing away, typing on a computer and asked me, "how are you today." I said, "really anxious," to which he replied "Okay." He then asked if I had any further questions. He did this all without looking at me once and after my procedure he was nowhere to be seen, and no one would answer any of my questions about the procedure either. I felt similarly during my consultation appointment, that they're not a friendly bunch of people, save the front desk person; she's nice. I wouldn't have gone here if it wasn't the only place to go. I was so turned off by them and hope I never have to go back either. I wish that Dr. Ellis would recognize that his and his assistants' behavior is offensive. They also didn't care much about what I wanted for treatment, didn't ask me what pain killers I wanted, and when I asked for what I wanted, refused to give it to me. It was a difference between Vicoden and Percocet: I don't see what the problem there was, and it just leads me to believe even more that they care very little about what makes their patients comfortable. Also, they forced me to exit out the back door instead of using the front after my surgery; don't know what's up with that. All in all, Dr. Ellis was right, I should have had my teeth extracted earlier in life, not because he noted how difficult is is to heal from extractions after the age of 25, but because I lived in a city big enough to have choices about my care, my providers, and the luxury of picking someone who has the decency to not only take my money but look me in the eye.
I did not think there was personalized service at this office. The staff is very rude. I had two wisdom teeth out, I asked to have novacain, but they insisted to put me out, I thought I had a choice! The day of the procedure, Dr. Ellis arrived in the room right before putting me to sleep, did not give me time to ask questions and after the surgery I was sent home with no after-care instructions, my husband was not informed as to what I should do. It is now day 7 and I am in extreme pain. I hope I can heal, I would have gone somewhere else but there is nobody else to go to. Please bring another oral surgeon to Farmington Maine, this one has less than desireable service!
