I would rate Dr. Prosapio at 4 1/2+ but the option isn't given! Four is really too low. In reading my review you will see why I didn't give him a five--but then there's always room for improvement on some level! I saw Dr. Prosapio as a referral for shoulder pain. I had had three significant falls in the previous two years that all could have affected my shoulder. There was an MRI from the first one to work from, which was from another provider. That provider felt that it was inconclusive. Dr. Prosapio reviewed it and felt that it wasn't even questionable regarding the damage that it revealed. He also felt that the two following incidences had undoubtedly worsened the condition. In feeling that the first MRI revealed enough information to proceed with surgery he believed that an additional MRI was expensive and unnecessary and that if he found additional injury he would already be in a position to repair it. I appreciated that he didn't push for another very expensive MRI. After surgery I had rehab as soon as possible. The therapy staff couldn't believe how quickly I progressed through therapy and were inclined to contribute it to Dr. Prosapio's accuracy in the repair which was a rotator cuff tear plus. (I am past 50 which can frequently slow down recovery.) Because of the original injury being as old as it was it made it more difficult to repair because the ligament/tendon starts to retract away from it's connection point and has to be retrieved & pulled into position to be reattached to the humurus. I believe Dr. Prosapio did an excellent surgical job and I can do anything that I did prior to the injuries. Maybe even more! I do appreciate that most Drs. have assistants to help alleviate their time loads. Though he was thoughtful and answered any questions that I had, I would like to have had just a little more time directly with him-no offense to his staff, but he is the professional. I lean a little more to "straight from the horses mouth" contact and felt that in hindsight I might have had just a little more accurate information before hand if I had spoken to him instead of a staff member on a couple of occasions. Again, no offense intended to his staff-they definitely have a job to do also.
