PortCity Urgent Care and Family Practice
Reviews
My son, who is going to college in Wilmington, was terribly sick and had to locate a local Dr for treatment a couple years ago. He has been seen by PortCity for the last 2 years. I happened to be in town visiting this weekend when he came down with the flu and I had the opportunity to visit the office and meet Dr Ochs. The office was very clean and the staff was sensitive and kind. I especially liked the way Dr Ochs worked with my son to counsel him and provide great treatment. All too often satisfied people don't take the time to share how happy they were with the care they received. It's easy to be angry or upset and have the energy to complain. Great job Dr Ochs and team! You are providing a great service for the local community.
I was discriminated by Dr. Gary Ochs, for my sexuality. He told me that gays go to hell and brought up the topic if I were related to any "religious affiliation" at all. I said no and he said being gay is a sin, and I said it is not, because I was born that way, and it's not in my view. What kind of doctor goes against honor code and says his patients, or the like, are going to hell? Do not recommend at all.
What a pleasant experience in the the wake of a rather bad one. My 7 year old daughter had a nasty cut that ended up needing 12 stitches. The doctor and nurse were wonderful. They took time to comfort her and make the experience as comfortable as possibile. I would highly recommend.
On a recent visit to Wilmington I was hit with the most severe allergies I have ever had. After a few days without a voice, a horrible cough, sore throat, headaches, congestion, eye irritation, and not being able to hear I FINALLY went to seek help. I went to PortCity Urgent Care with a 9am appointment. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist/front desk clerk and asked to fill out a quick form. Within about 10 minutes I was in an exam room with the nurse who was also very friendly. We spoke for a few minutes about my symptoms and he took my vitals. He left the room for maybe a minute before the Doctor came in to see me. We went over what was going on with me, after a check up and some discussion I was prescribed some medicine and instructed on how to use them. I was told if I had any questions to call or come back in for help at no extra charge! I can't remember having such an easy doctor visit ever. Sidenote: Shortly after leaving the office I had to cut my trio shirt and return to Georgia. Within a few hours of my visit and taking my first doses of medicine I could breathe easier, I could hear completely and I could speak again! I was so relieved. Unfortunately, I found the next day my eye irritation was still pretty bad. I called Port City Urgent Care and explained I wasn't in town anymore but was hoping for some assistance since they had just seen me. The doctor and his team called a prescription in to my local pharmacy for me without making me jump through any hoops! I don't have insurance at the moment so not having to pay for another office visit was amazing. The staff really went the extra mile to help me and make sure I was completely taken care of when they really didn't have to. If I ever need a doctor in Wilmington again, I will definitely go back. TL/DR: I suffered longer than I should have with allergies. The quick and friendly Port City Urgent Care team took amazing care of me. Highly recommended!
I've been getting refills for my prescriptions for over a year through them. Always had seen gary the owner or the other doctor and was more than happy with both of them. I just went in because I have been having trouble sleeping and was treated like a drug addict. The new PA (joseph ellender) would take something I said, and say it back to me differently seeing If I would correct him or not. That and talking to me like my friend but really trying to get me to say things that don't agree with other things I said. Real shady. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
