Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene
Reviews
The doctors are ok here, but NEVER trust the "nurses" here. Most of them are drama queens that think they are doctors, and must be leftover employees that cannot find work in any other hospital.
It is difficult to believe that such poor quality of care could exist in the Northeast in 2011. From scheduling to patient communication to matters of patient confidentiality, the Cheshire Medical Center at Keene is unprofessional at best and cruelly incompetent at worst. In the diagnosis of complex disease, there is no coordination of care between general practitioners and specialists. Administrative and nursing staff who serve as gatekeepers to physicians seem intent on keeping the gates closed. There is little effort made to facilitate timely scheduling of tests; there is little to no explanation of tests given or reasons for prescribing them; there is little to no follow-up after each stage of testing; there is no transferal of records to affiliated locations without persistent intervention from patient advocates. If you or a family member face a serious illness, run, do not walk, away from Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. Seek care in Lebanon, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, travel to Boston, go to New York or any other major metropolitan area. If you are not in a position to do so, be sure you keep a file or notebook where you document every conversation, interaction, test, prescription, etc. If you are the spouse or parent of a patient and fear your advocacy could compromise the treatment your loved one receives, ask a trusted friend or other family member to come with you, advocate as necessary, and keep an eye on details.
The staff here are rude and unhelpful. If you can go anywhere else, you should.
