Michael L. Gordon, D.M.D.

We've been seeing Dr. Gordon for about 9 years now. It's always been fine. Not great but the kids are always fine and I trust his expertise. However, the new scheduling policy is aggressive and absurd and we are looking for a new dentist. The policy would require a doctor's note for late cancellations or you are terminated as a patient for 3 years. I'm supposed to pay for a doctor's visit if they have a cold?? Or would he rather work on them while they struggle to breathe and spread illness? After NINE YEARS in good standing with this practice, they would not let me schedule two appointments because if I canceled the first one then they would have to cancel the second one. I just hope we can find somewhere else nearby because I am not comfortable with this office any longer.

My children have been going to Dr. Gordon since they were 3. and now they are 10 and 13. I took them every 6 months. He has a very dry personality and has nooo patience for kids. My daughter went there to have a tooth pulled because her tooth wasn't coming out on its own and I informed the staff that my daughter has high anxiety. They took her back and gave her the medication to make her sleepy then sent us back to the waiting room where we sat and waited over an hour, then they took her back and she was still scared so Dr. Gordon refused to extract the tooth and gave her a referral to the hosp saying she had behavioral issues. Then I tried to call and cancel my kids cleaning yesterday due to a death of a good friend, and I was told if I didn't bring my kids in, they would be dismissed from the practice for 3 years. I had never missed an appt and was never late. There is one nurse there that is very rude and didn't like her personality from day 1 but I just let that go and figured you're not going to like everybody in life. The nurse that has dark long hair was very sweet. He is by far the worst dentist I have ever dealt with and he may need to choose a profession where he does not deal with people. I give him negative 5 stars.

Dr. Gordon didn't say one word to my daughter. She wasn't even 2 years old when I took her. He was not personable and didn't say maybe 3 sentences to me total. I will not be taking my daughter back to him. Highly do NOT recommend him.

I have been taking my son to Dr Gordon since he was 2.5yrs old. I have visited him 7 times and all of them are for routine check up and cleaning. And never Dr Gordon spent more that 5 minutes for my son. Most of the pre-works including cleaning and x-rays are done by her assistants around. They are always in a hurry and you get impression that the office works like an assembly line operation. Again in every visit I have to wait more than 30 minutes to get my son in and the process begin. Despite these I still keep going to Dr Gordon as I don't have another pediatric dentist in-network of my insurance company and available near to my place and taking new patient. Simply observing the traffic in Dr Gordon's office I clearly felt that many parents don't have much option other than taking their kids to Dr Gordon. The reason I am posting this adverse feedback now is because last year Dr Gordon's office applied "Topical Fluoride" treatment twice to my child whereas my insurance company only covers once a year. So last year I paid $35 to Dr Gordon as it is billed to me. This year in Aug-13 when I took my kid for the 2nd visit of the year I told the assistant attending to my son that already "Topical Fluoride" treatment has been applied in the Feb-2013 visit and this time it won't be paid by my insurance and I don't want it to be done. As I was with my son, I know that this wasn't done. Last week I got the bill from Dr Gordon's office of $27 for "Topical Fluoride" treatment. When I called his office to reiterate the discussion happened between me and Dr Gordon's assistant and I shouldn't be billed for that. The response I received from his billing staff is that the assistant who attended my son is pretty good in making note of these things and since she hasn't put that in note so I have to pay it. When I protested this she immediately replied that either I have to pay the amount or can take my kid to another doctor.

I can't speak to Dr. Gordon's skills because we didn't make it through the doorway. Drove right passed his Maineville location because I was looking for a facility that would match his website - bright, cheerful and kid-friendly. Instead we found the office located in what looks like a run-down motel-like setting. The building houses several miscellaneous businesses - none of which look like they are thriving. Old frayed doormats, chipped paint, dull or outdated signs (if any), etc. Still I was hoping that once we got inside the office we would get a different vibe. This would have been my 2 year old's first visit and I wanted to make sure it was a cheerful one in order to set the stage for later visits. When I opened the door and started to show my daughter in, I was shocked to find a tiny lobby (maybe 8' x 8' - if that) with next to no lighting than what the glass door provided. There were a few patients (maybe 4 or 5) waiting and it already looked crowded. I stopped right there. I wasn't going to send my daughter into such a gloomy place. If Dr. Gordon is a good dentist who cares about his patients, well his office choices do not reflect it. I had to wonder if he is just looking to cut costs in rent and might also carry that philosophy to the care he gives his little ones. Image isn't everything but it does mean something. I immediately called and cancelled the appointment - letting the receptionist know the reason. Hopefully they will want to raise their image and use this as constructive criticism. They didn't just lose one patient but they lost the chance of getting my recommendation to other mothers with small children. In the accounting world - I'm afraid the potential losses are much greater than the perceived savings they might be getting from renting such a dilapidated location.
