My mom just underwent hip replacement surgery at FMC, and she and her family found it to be a very positive experience overall. The surgical unit seemed well-organized, and the staff there were very good about keeping her family informed during the surgical process. She then spent several days post-op on the orthopedic ward, and the nurses and physical therapy staff there were terrific--very responsive to her needs, as well as the needs of her family. (Added bonus: for a hospital setting, the food in both the cafeteria and the patients' rooms is pretty good, too.)

The ER is always crowded and slow. I see a lot of people loafing and doing nothing. I was on the "bay" but aware of everything and my nurse did a lot of texting and ordering food while sitting a few feet from me. at the staff area. I was in the ER for 10 hours eventually admitted I was in a regular room and I was not restricted on my food yet got nothing to eat the first 24 hours I was there (because no one ordered me a tray even though I asked). I had a low blood sugar because they gave me my evening insulin even though I said I haven't eaten today. The room was loud and crazy 24/7. The roommate and her husband were just plain nuts, he was spitting his snuff in my trash can and kept flipping the curtain back to see me. The nurses and aides were in and out and never made the husband leave. I didn't not rest at all. After 3 days I begged to go home and had to leave AMA because I needed to sleep and eat.

I have been very happy with the care received by my father in law. All of the Dr. And nurses have been caring and forthright with his condition. We did have a small issue in the ER. A few nurses did not know how to transfer him out of his wheelchair on to a bed. I find this ridiculous. Luckily I am trained to be able to do this and accomplished when I was asked to help

great staff, great medical center. great asset to the area.

I had a baby here when I was very young that I decided to give up for adoption. The doctor who was to work with me after the birth REFUSED to give me any help/advice/service unless I agreed to keep the baby. It took months to make that very mature decision and seconds for that doctor to make me start to question it. As a result, the poor baby had to go to foster care while I re-made my decision instead of going home with the rightful parents. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. Eventually, everything worked out but at the expense of my family and the baby's well-being.
