Sylvania Urgent Care
Reviews
I had a simple sinus infection that I get almost every year.. My normal doc said he could see me on Friday !! :((.. walked in to Urgent care at 5:15 pm on a Tuesday, walked out at 5:40, with my prescriptions called in to my pharm., and a shot in the butt. Smooth as silk. Everyone was nice and pleasant with a bit of humor mixed in... I like them more than my normal doc. Will go again
I first came here a couple of months ago because I couldnt get in to see my regular Dr. They are great. I especially like Dr. Mamoud. He is so nice and down to earth. He genuinely cares about our family when we come in and always seems to know his stuff. He never brushes us off or writes a script just to hurry us out like our regular Drs do. He makes referrals when necessary and will spend the time needed to explain things. Fantastic Dr. I also absolutely adore Amber the Physicians Assistant there. She is smart and friendly and warm. Whoever hired her did a great job choosing her. The woman at the front desk, Kim, was also very nice. She is helpful and is technicaly an X-Ray tech but she obviously works very well on their team and helps out in many different ways. Overall, visiting this urgent care feels more like visiting the best primary care practice in town. So happy when my regular Drs office cant see me because then I get to go here. :)
True story: I went to Flower Hospital ER with chest and side pains. Flower ER gave me a Norco, said I was having a muscle spasm. The next day I was still in a lot of pain. My wife insisted that we try Sylvania Urgent Care. Here is what took place henceforth: SUC ordered a CT scan of my chest and low and behold I was hospitalized for 4 days due to a Pulmonary Embolism in each lung. The doctors at SUC are not there to sedate you and send you on your way. They are there "treat" you! Most people understand that PE's can be fatal. Thank you Sylvania Urgent Care for your top notch care!
Have been to better facilities but I do appreciate them being open on a Sunday evening and was not expecting the best based on the hour at hand. Receptionist was 'ok'.. Dr was ok but spoke little English therefore making difficult to communicate :( the two nurses were very sweet.. thought it odd I got no documentation for my tetanus shot or information on dressing a wound to take with me. I had to ask for additional bandages as it was clearly bleeding through and was unlikely to last the 3-4 days I was told to leave on and not get wet. I change them this morning with the extras the staff provided. Overall in a pinch [which is what Urgent care is for I realize] I was thankful they were there but overall professionalism I like to see with a Dr's office would likely push me to go elsewhere if not for the late hours.
The doctor was nice and thorough but overall between being lied to about the wait time, watching several patients who came up to 15 minutes after i registered be seen before my family, and the filthy clostrophobic waiting room, i can only give 2 stars and not give much of a recommendation. The facility also reminds me that in healthcare today the main concern is the profit margin not the hippocratic oath. I am positive that making sure your waiting room does not have dirty tissues on the floor, overflowing waste baskets and 2 year old torn up publications sitting around would go a long way towards customer satisfaction. When i see a business that cares nothing for the comfort of their customers and tells bold faced lies to get you to stay, at least for me personally, it causes me to loose respect for said business. The only redeeming factor was the fact that they did in fact have a doctor on staff, that is If you count the 2 utmc residents as 1 graduated doctor. granted you cant expect the best at an urgent care but the 3 hour journey for me was just enough to ensure I never return. the residents working there was the only reason I didnt walk out because they were very kind and good with children. they did 1 thing right at least.
