I had been going to the office that Dr. Blanc works out of for years.(Alleruzzo Blanc & Miceli) Now that I have stopped going and I see another dentist I realized how verbally abusive he was to me. I have dry mouth due to my meds. I made him aware of this but he repeatedly would make comments about how bad my teeth were. Then he asked if I was on drugs. I honestly thought he meant prescription drugs so I again repeated the information that he already knew not understanding that he was insulting me. This went on for years and I believed to some degree that I deserved such treatment. The verbal and mental abuse was absurd. I was and am usually very shy. I put up with this abuse because I did not realize that the dry mouth was not my fault, I thought that I was the problem and that I was not taking care of my teeth. Dry Mouth was NEVER brought up to me. finally when most of my teeth were falling out I changed dentists. I started going to a very polite dentist who was educated about dry mouth and also my meds. She explained that my meds were part of the cause of dry mouth but she also said genetics played a part as well. She made me feel like person and not dirty or unclean. She treated me with respect and kindness. She also explained that some dentist feel that their education ends after they graduate and some feel that they don't need to continue learning as in the case of Dr. Blanc. Now my teeth are quite nice, not perfect but nice and I and not dealing with any verbal or mental abuse. Everyone is entitled to be treated like a person. If you want to be treated with kindness and compassion and honesty do not go to Dr. Blanc.
