Cornerstone Dental Associates

Very professional and friendly atmosphere in a very classy looking facility with the latest state of the art equipment for dental care. The staff and Doctors are enjoyable to be around and obviously care about you. I really enjoyed my first visit and would proudly recommend them to family, friends and co-workers.
I moved to the area a year ago and was searching for a new dentist because there was a tiny popcorn husk painfully jammed up under my gum behind my top rear molar and I could not get it out. I take good care of my teeth daily. My last dentist visit was just before we moved here and I had extensive work done removing most of my old fillings and replacing them. So nearly all my fillings are only one year old. I chose Cornerstone for their $99 special which included exam, x-rays, cleaning and free teeth whitening. Pros: I was seen right away, the staff were all friendly and the office was clean and neat. Cons: After the x-rays I was given a "consultation" which entailed (after telling them I was a cash patient) getting questioned about what my husband does for a living, what I do for a living, how is business, etc. (they were trying to appear conversational but it was painfully obvious to me they just wanted to determine my income). Then I was given a two-page estimate of things to do to "fix" my teeth. Computer-generated pricing was crossed off and the doctor hand-wrote in his "discounted" prices. The estimate was almost $9K!! (Note; my old dentist had given me a $3K estimate for the same work a year ago). Then I got the fastest "cleaning" I've ever had in my life. I had to remind her to get the popcorn husk out. The "free" teeth whitening turned out to be no initial cost but you have to come back every six months (for maintenance or something, don't recall exactly) for life and that part, naturally, you pay for. Oh, and they recommended I didn't get it that day because the crown I was going to need would change the shape of my mouth and I would just have to redo it afterward anyway. My overall impression was they were trying to take me for everything they could get. Maybe the clientelle around here doesn't mind that. I DO mind it. I will not be going back.
I had my very first crown at Cornerstone yesterday and I have to say, as far as dental work goes, it was certainly the best experience I have ever had! Dr. Karner and Angie were very kind and even relaxed me by just telling me what to expect and keeping me comfortable. I watched a video about the procedure and even got to watch the machine make my permanent crown! I am always impressed by the staff and know that we are always going to patients at Cornerstone!
My children and I have been patients since Dr. Henshaw started practicing in Shelby and have continued since he retired, and Dr. Lutz-Craver took over and later moved into her new building. My 3 grands are patients there also. My hygienist Brenda is the best. The front desk and check-out staff are very nice and friendly. I have only good things to say. Excellent care.
I can't recommend Cornerstone Dental highly enough! The staff is so personable and Dr. Lutz-Craver and Dr. Karner are always willing to let you be involved in your dental care. I have never been in when the entire staff didn't appear to be in a great mood. How is that even possible??? The "green" office is so nice, and the natural area view, from the huge window in each room, is beautiful.
