R J's Boot Co

This may have been a quality operation at one point, but no longer. Paid $1600 for custom boots. Not only were they not made to my specifications, it looks to me as if very little effort was put into the workmanship.
My wife went in with the first pair of dress shoes that I spent any kind of money on. Actually she brought them to the Red Wing shop on Ella who sent her over to RJ's. My wife didn't get a price on paper or verbally (her fault obviously) but did specify that the soles and heel were to be leather, like the shoes were. Three weeks later after bugging them, my wife finally got the shoes. I almost wanted to cry. They took beautiful burgundy shoes and put a cheap rubber sole, heel and a cheesy toe cap. They for some reason polished them with black polish that left heavy lines and deposits. All for the low low price of $100 We returned them to get the leather soles and heels, and after a week, we got the shoes...rubber heel and leather sole. The leather sole was so sorry! soft leather with a half-hearted light tan paint job on the sole. Knowing that going back would be a losing fight, I took them elsewhere. I found a dry-cleaner off Shepherd that put high quality Italian soles on the shoes for $75.00. Beautiful job, great price. Consumer activism at it's best. Voting with your feet. One customer lost for ever and one loyal customer gained.
Poor service... Takes forever to get boots and then they are a below average quality... Don't be fooled by all of the presidential anecdotes... this boot maker is to be avoided. Get some Luccheses you'll be .
