Took my daughter in law into labor and delivery on Dec. 28th and 1st night we are there the staff was so loud in the hall laughing and playing it kept waking up my daughter-in-law. We had the baby the next day and that went fine. The next day, they stated they were going to keep the baby another day but mom was fine to go home. The staff could not give any explanation why they were keeping the baby so we requested to speak to the physician. The nurse on staff stated that could not get ahold of the md the rest of the day. I am a registered nurse and have been an registered nurse for more than 20 years. I called the hospital and explained I was a nurse and wanted to take my daughter in law and granddaughter home and they stated I could not. I asked why and they said she was not discharged. The physician had already written discharge orders, the roads were getting icy, and we knew we would be completely frozen in the next day. I stated that we needed to leave this day so we would be happy to sign papers and leave AMA. The L & D nurse proceeds to start yelling on the phone that she would open a CPS case on us if we left with the baby. Then went to my daughter in laws room and began to threaten her. Bright and early the next morning they told her they could go home during the worst ice storm in recent years with a newborn baby. It took about 3 hours to get to the hospital and another 3 hours to get home not counting when we got there to pick them up the paperwork was still not ready for discharge.

I came in earlier today with a very, very painful tooth ache. Sore throat, tongue pain, hurts to swallow, cough, sneeze, etc. I was told by the doctor that the tooth needed to be extracted. I told her (dr.) that I have an appointment set up to do just that Friday. I am in Odessa visiting family so no dentist offices are open here or Midland on Sundays. So she leaves the room and a few moments later a different lady comes in and tells me since the dr. declared my visit there a non-emergency they needed me to pay $250.00 if I wanted them to proceed with their treatment. Meaning if I wanted to be given any antibiotics, etc. I had to pay them. I have never felt so mistreated. I was in tears and they basically gave me a big " oh well ". I didn't feel right when I pulled up to the building e.r. and when I approached the window to fill out paper work the receptionist was very "whatever" when I told her what brought me in there today. I think they need to look into the professionalism of the staff there. I feel as if I was treated unfairly.

I love all the nurses in labor and delivery. Courtney the lvn especially. Shes amazing and so kind, she kinda looks like miranda lambert.she goes abpve and beyond. Infact a lot of the nurses here do. Wish i would of had my first two kids here. They done nothin g short of take care of me and treat me like family. Yes the hospital is a private hospital. .sorta. I love it. Theyve treated me so kindly and better than midland memorial west l n d. Everyone is so kind and patient and understanding. I can't say enough nice things about this group of ladies. Everyone is so friendly from the house keeping to room service. I'm going to miss them!

I talked to labor & delivery the lady was telling me in the middle of contractions that I need to go to Midland.. seriously! So unless you have a Dr here they'll send u across town. She was more concerned about my life story than the baby that's trying to make its way out. She was rude, impolite & unsympathetic.
