Excel Eye Center

The staff I interacted with seemed kind enough, but their contact prices are exorbitant. The rebate on the contacts requires that they be purchased from the medical center that wrote the prescription, so unfortunately I'm changing eye doctors due to high contact prices at Excel Eye Center. With regard to CooperVision Pro Clear Dailies 90 Pack: Excel's price is $75 per box. Walmart sells the same 90 pack for $55 per box, Costco for $44.99 per box. Esplin Eye center sells them for $46 a box. A Google search reveals a similar average at online retailers between $45-$60 with 1800 Contacts on the high end. The 1800 Contacts discount also requires buying in bulk. $30 is a big deal, especially by the time you buy eight boxes for a year's total. I wish I'd known this before using Excel's eye doctors as I'm now not eligible to use the $100 rebate on the contacts as they require eyewear to be purchased from the doctor who wrote the prescription. Even with that $100 off, Excel's prices are so much higher it's not worth it. It's more advantageous for me to use another eye doctor.
The Excel Eye Center is the only place I go for eye care. Every one is friendly as I enter and I can usually be informed when I ask how long the wait will be. I see Dr. Parsons and I usually have a long wait for Dr. Parsons, however he is worth every minute of the wait. Most of the time when I have to wait it's because Dr. Parsons has had an emergency patient come in during the day. I want the latest appointment because of my health problems later is much better for me. Dr. Parsons is very professional and has a wonderful personality all at the same time. I trust him. I have, what could be. a serious eye problem. Even so I always feel I have had the best care possible. I recommend Excel Eye Center highly.
Best Place for LASIK! I had LASIK 5 years ago by Dr. Lohner at Excel Eye Center in Provo. What a great experience. The staff was friendly and the procedure went well. I have been seeing 20/20 ever since. I am so grateful for Dr. Lohner's service and for making my daily life easier now. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning and being able to see....no more glasses or contacts what a great feeling! Thank you Excel Eye Center!
What I disliked about my experience: 1) The receptionists were totally ignorant about my insurance and refused to help me with it. They just kept saying that it wouldn't cover anything. However, my insurance provider specifically sent me to them because they accepted my insurance. 2) I was there for 2 hours and was seen for maybe 10 minutes by the doctor. 3) The doctor totally disregarded my concerns about a previous eye infection that I had gotten in a third world country and never received treatment for but that was bothering me again. He kept interrupting me and saying "you'll be fine." 4) The prescription they gave me was too strong. I'll never go back. A coworker of mine has had a similar experience and also says that he will never go back to Excel Eye Center or take his children there again.
I was referred to this office by my endocronologist and then specifically to see Dr Parsons. I have seen him twice and both times had a positive experience. Dr Parsons was thorough, clear and focused on my concerns. I appreciated the time he took to educate me regarding a recent change in my health. His knowledge of my specific thyroid condition was impressive.
