Better Med Urgent Care
Reviews
Overall bad experience. They were super nice and helpful for the office visit. Afterwards I had to call back to ask a question. The nurse on the phone assumed why I was calling, was rude and not helpful at all. I got the bill and the doctor charged for several things that never took place. I can just go down the road to Patient First and not have these problems. My first experience at this place and I will not be going back.
I am only giving this one star since I cannot give it ZERO. This was the WORST place to visit if you have a medical emergency, mostly for the terrible paperwork trail and mistakes. Not only did they charge us exorbitant amounts despite the fact that we have insurance, but they also kept charging us even when everything was paid. Our insurance paid their portion, and we paid our astronomical portion. You would think that it would be over, right? NOPE. We continued to get bills for he same things we've already paid. We called, and thought we got it straightened out. We were told everything was rectified and that we wouldn't receive anything else. NOPE. Most recently, we received a collection letter for that same amount that we have proof of paying. Seriously? Is your company that incompetent that you can't even handle money? Why should we think that you could handle, oh, I don't know, my life? Avoid this business for all that your life is worth. Even if you are bleeding to death, go to the next one down the road and take your chances with the extra travel time.
Better Med was by far the best experience I have ever had at an urgent care (and I have been to quite a large number of urgent care facilities over the years). I was seen within minutes of arrival! Everyone from the moment I walked into the door to the physician himself was extremely friendly. The facility didn't feel like a sterile, cold, ER either. Instead it had a nice family physician's office feel to it. They even followed up with me two days later to make sure I was feeling better (went in for sinus infection). I will absolutely be using Better Med again in the future and I very highly recommend it to everyone.
Saturday was the first time I visited BetterMed. I have just recently moved down to Prince George and I found it very disappointing that there was no other choices in the area as far as urgent care but Patient First and John Randolph Medical Center. I moved from the Short Pump location were urgent care was much more accessible as well as personable. Since living in this area, for the last 6 months I have visited Patient First on 4 separate times and John Randolph once, for myself and my family. My experience at Patient First in Colonial Heights was one of horror and tremendous disappointment. I am extremely loyal to my doctors, however living so far away made it virtually impossible to see them when a immediate emergency arose. My only solution until today was to drive 2 hours back to Short Pump and see those that provided comfort as well as solutions without repeat visits. From the moment we walked into the door until the moment we left the quality of service was outstanding. Dr. Jenski is a very personable doctor and I am so appreciative that this location was opened in Colonial Heights. My copay is a little more then it would be at Patient First but the service from everyone involved is worth every penny I paid and much more. If you are a parent and or a patient that really cares about the service they receive, please, please, please visit BetterMed. NO MORE PATIENT FIRST for my family and I again.
For medical care, they get 5 stars. For the administration, 1 star. Between my wife and I we have been there six times and they have screwed up the billing twice. My wife was sent to collections, when we had paid everything in full (in fact they were sending up refund checks, and we never received "second notice" bill). She spent several hours of going through invoices, zero balance statements and payments. It took her several calls to get through to someone who could help. As she started reviewing each visit with them they abruptly said they "found" the payments. It took several weeks to get everything resolved. No apology, no explanation. Then, several trips later, I received a bill, it was for the co-pay, which I paid at time of service. I called in and explained this. I immediately sent them the proof of payment. Two weeks went by, and I received another bill for the same visit. I left messages for the supervisor at the billing company and the office manager, never got a call back. This problem is still not resolved. I hope they get the billing fixed, what is the point of getting out in and out in 20 minutes, if it hours/weeks later to fix all their mistakes. 2/11/14 Update - I did manage to get the above resolved. Yesterday I received a phone call from BetterMed having see this post. They are working to resolve the billing problems and I am optimistic that they will.
