THESE PEOPLE ARE JUDGMENTAL, DEMEANING AND ARROGANT!! IF YOU WANT TO BE TALKED DOWN TO AND TREATED LIKE A JERK, GO HERE!!! I'M ASTONISHED AT HOW I WAS TREATED!! I MADE IT VERY CLEAR WHAT MY BOUNDARIES WERE AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! THIS PLACE IS CORPORATE CRAP!! IF I'M ABLE, I'M TO FILE A DISCRIMINATION SUIT AGAINST THEM!!!
Lets start with: I will update my review after I get to a second opinion. I went there yesterday for the first time. I will say they are very nice people in there. My exam took 2 hours! That does not include the cleaning. I sat in that office from 2:00pm to 4:40pm ( that is ridiculous). After 2 hours of pictures, xrays, probing teeth, etc. they Finally came to the conclusion that I had 5 cavities that needed filled ( never had a cavity in my life!), the beginning stages of gum disease, and that I have developed TMJ because I grind my teeth. I will admit that recently my Girlfriend has told me that I grind my teeth. I have never had Jaw pain from it though. Before they did the cleaning that they said was not appropriate and would not do a good enough job (which cost $100 over the $240 my insurance covered) they went through billing for me for what they did recommend. Their recommended procedure came out to be $1300 out of pocket just for the night guard and gum cleaning (not including the fillings another $460). I do not know if they were going for sticker shock to scare me ( why would they?) but I do know that they have pushed me away from going back there. I will 100% be getting a second diagnosis else where. My girlfriend is supposed to be going there next week for an appointment. We are going to have a discussion on if she should even go back there. I would not refer a friend...
I had a very painful tooth emergency. I called this office and asked if they accepted my dental discount plan and they said yes and can even see me the same day. "Great!" I thought. Upon arrival I was pretty impressed with the office and their technology. After they took x rays, the dentist told me I needed a root canal and a crown and some other minor things he saw in adjacent teeth. He referred me to their financial counselor and she came in with a quote. For my one tooth that needs the root canal and crown, it will cost me a little over $3000. Omg I nearly died! Where am I going to get that kind of money right away? I left with a prescription for an antibiotic and pain killer in tears thinking my life is over. Ok maybe not my life but my tooth's life. I thought, I will never be able to fix this damn tooth anytime soon being a single mom. Fast forward a couple of months and a couple of tooth scares on this one tooth later, it finally caught up to me and the whole left side of my face swelled up. Still scared I wouldn't be able to afford fixing it, I had no choice but to call other dentists because the pain was unbearable. I decided on a Comfort Dental near my house even though I swore not to go to a chain dental again. Well what do you know? They were able to accept my dental discount (for real this time unlike River Point Dental where I was tricked) and perform the same treatment for a total of $900 (what my discount allows) paid in installments. Wow! And I was traumatized because some greedy business scared the crap out of me? All in all, be warned. This place will try to upsell you with extra stuff and charge you an arm and a leg for the same quality service you can get somewhere else.
Since our insurance changed we were now looking for a trusted dentist in our area of town. Groupon ( which is a joke) had a special for this dental group and we purchased two with the intent of getting a cleaning and exam , it was supposed to include x rays , mouth wash and cleaning. My wife received all of her promised service , while I did not get any cleaning or mouth wash sample. While not big deal I was already seeing their service was not as promised and had no idea what was comming next. After the exam and viewing of x-rays they told me I needed a cavity filled and a deep cleaning to the tune of $2800.00 and darn if my wife didn't need the same thing. Well they either conned or scared her into doing it , I declined. It's obvious by the reviews this is a pattern with River Point Dental . I have only 2 cavities and 1 root canal done at a dental school and it has lasted 23 years, I believe in quality care and that there is nothing more important than your teeth , I don't feel their helping me keep my teeth in good shape , feels more like there support their habit. I found another dentist shortly after this visit and have been using them for 2 years and my wife now uses them as well because her recent visit to River Point resulting in an estimate for $3900.00 to pull 1 tooth and provide a bridge ....ONE TOOTH !!!!!!!! So my advise is to find yourself a good dentist and keep your teeth long as you can but DON't GO HERE !
I received a root canal yesterday with the traveling endodontist that this office utilizes. I was not given the option to choose my own endodontist under my insurance. The initial exam appointment the week before took 2 hours...for an exam. They stated that an extensive amount of work including gum lasering was recommended. Yesterday the endodontist gave no warning what so ever that he was going to give me the anesthetic shots. Nor did he use lidocaine. He just went straight in; piercing the needle in multiple locations without pause. I've had extensive dental work in the past, and licocaine and waiting to give the 2nd and 3rd shots was much more pleasant, as was the warning from the Dr. The sunglasses the assistant gave me to wear were filthy, so I decided to wear my own. That is gross and not sanitary. Multiple xrays were taken even after I voiced that they had just been taken last week. The lead xray vest did not fit. It was too small and left my neck exposed last week and yesterday. I've never heard of an endodontist charging an additional $200 for an "obstruction," and this was my 3rd root canal. Lastly, I was not offered a prescription for pain, only advised to take ibuprofin, and I was not offered a prescription for antibiotic. I was given an antibiotic the last 2 times that I had a root canal. When I called to ask about it, nobody called me back when they said they would. I am confident in the work that was done and staff was nice, but some simple measures could have made the experience much more pleasant.
