When I arrived in Dr. Michael Perry’s office approximately 7 years ago, my teeth had been carefully cared for, yet they had been filled, crowned, had root canals, and finally pulled. My dentist referred me to Dr. Perry in hopes I qualified for implants. Fortunately, I had enough bone in an area to support 2 implants. Unfortunately, I had lost bone in other areas because I waited so long before seeing him. I found out too late that my procrastination cost me 4 teeth I desperately need. Once bone goes, there is no more. If I had moved quicker to have implants put in, I could have saved the bone because the implant keeps the bone alive. I could have my entire set of teeth. Through the ensuing years I have visited Dr. Perry and his staff quite a bit; I now have 10 implants. Dr. Perry offers two ways of helping with pain during the procedure: blocking the nerves as a general dentist does and IV conscious sedation. I always choose the IV sedation that Dr. Perry starts painlessly. My only concern in the IV process is that I am not sedated enough to be as relaxed as I need. I have had extensive work done on my teeth and I know there is enough medicine to keep me completely oblivious to the process, which is what I personally need The ladies who work with Dr. Perry are very compassionate and competent and I feel “right at home” there. The staff always goes over the procedures for taking care of my implant when I return home, giving me time to ask questions and sending me with an ice pack. I have never left the office without Dr. Perry reminding me that I have his cell number and that he has pain medicine and an antibiotic called in at my pharmacy. Would I do all the implants again? Yes. Would I choose Dr. Perry and his staff again? Yes. Implant surgery is having my own teeth.
“Reflecting on my experience I am very pleased with the work that Dr. Perry/staff has done. In hindsight I wish Dr. Perry had placed my previous 2 implants that I had done elsewhere. I have a total of 5 implants. Overall I feel so much better about myself and I am so glad that I was given the option of dental implants instead of having teeth pulled and wearing dentures.”
