Safeway

Winco, even Trader Joe's is often cheaper, and TJ's is right next door. I went in for a bag of frozen chicken breasts and the Safeway ones with discount were still 30% more than TJ's prices and almost 50% more than Winco's prices. Sometimes they have some decent loss leaders and the Safway for U app works alright but 90% of the time it is cheaper to shop elsewhere. Also because the prices are so much higher typically the produce and meat seems to move a lot slower, I've never had a bad bag of potatoes at Winco but I've had a bad bag at this Safeway. All in all, if you are smart and only buy the loss leaders, it is alright. For day to day shopping beyond the 30-40 items a week they have sale, look to spend around 50-100% more than Winco. Spices are simply outrageous. Winco has bulk spices often 1/8th or 1/10th the price. A 2 oz jar of curry powder here costs as much as a pound at Winco.
If you're lucky enough to be in this area with a low tank of gas, travel around the corner to AM/PM and avoid the frustration of Safeway. The gas station staff exhibit terrible customer service. They must not realize they're being paid to do a service that a majority of the citizens of Oregon would prefer to do. They lack tact, care, and attention. Additionally, I recommend you view the meat department for an example on how not to present raw food to the general public. Often times the meat inside the case looks dried out, especially cuts close to the window due to spaces in the glass. Further more, the display is almost always dirty with what looks to be 'old meat' on the signage. I wholly recommend visiting Albertsons up the street for their meat selection. Their meat is USDA Choice and kept in a clean environment. Too long, didn't read? Here's a re-cap: Avoid the gas station and do not buy meat from the store for fear a food borne illness.
A good grocery store. Nothing stands out really, it seems pretty run of the mill
Should have gone to Fred Meyer. I'm standing in a line that is stretching into the aisles while there are about 3 that aren't even open. Ive never seen a longer line except when I lived in L.A.. No calls for backup cashiers either. This is ridiculous. Prices are way too high too. I hate this Safeway save yourself some time and go anywhere else.
The store is consistently well stocked. Also I enjoy the new Safeway for U program and alerts.
