This place looks like a decent supermarket so on our vacation we decided to stop here to stock up on some items. One of the items I bought was a vegetable platter from the deli. It didn't look right or fresh. I decided to return it and thinking like any other local chain it would not be any issue. It was my surprised when I told the cashier I wanted to return she said she had to speak to the manager. Only the manager does returns. She was so rude to me and treated me like I wasn't her kind or something. Told me she could not return it. After a fight she finally did but told me unless items were opened and expired they would not take them. I told her I didn't open the vegetable platter to taste anything because it looked rotten. Would she wanted to open it and taste it? I tried to return other items and could not do so. This is not the way to treat tourist who are your biggest bread and butter probably in this very small town. I suggest for anyone visiting to avoid this place. Food is not fresh and they give you issues to return their own rotten food. I also found the people who worked there to be racist. I am a latina girl and they looked down on me. I was not treated like other people. This is not the way things are where I live. I plan on sending a letter to the corporate office. This store needs some adjustments and better public service.
Clean, well organized. If visiting the Gatlinburg area and you have a kitchen, this is a great place to stock up. Prices are middle of the road. That's why you see different opinions. Some items are more expensive and some are not. If you get one thing, you may be a bargain or you may feel scammed. If you get several things, it averages out in the end. IMO, the prices are okay considering its location is adjacent to a very touristy area.
Unfortunetly my recent visit to this store was an experience that will change me forever. Having just left the gym I decided to grab some toiletries and a steak for dinner, immediatly upon entering I see many of the staff start to gather. I thought their gathering and looking toward me was but not all together out of the ordinary so I make my way toward the butcher and purchase a steak. After walking through the isle of all the toiletries, I see many of the employees standing at the head of each aisle and one seemingly following me around. The employee quickly stopped when I looked at her confusingly but after making my selections and makng my way to the self scanners, several employees we're standing in formation, blocking any path I could use as an exit. As I paid, they watched me, and I, pretending not to notice, watched them, in complete shock and awe that they are behaving like this. So I'm standing there, at the machine, the same self service machine I use several times a week, in a state of complete shock. And as I paid, my transacation completed, the normally low auditory notification telling me the successful was about 10x louder then anyone elses and 10x louder than it has ever been before. That is when the reality of the situation truly hit me, I could not beleieve it, not only that it was happening but that they were so obvious aobut it. Needless to say, they seemed suprised that my transacation was successful and had to quickly move out of my way so that I could leave, yes, they were that close and blocking the exit, that well. I've never experienced a situation like before. I didn't grow up in a place where the way I look could cause an entire store to scramble like this but I guess as the saying goes "We're not in kansas anymore". All in all I'm sure I will need years of therapy after this, thanks food city.
Good selection and decent prices. The staff is amazing. I lost a journal while shopping and Amy worked hard to return it to me. Amazing store who really cares about their customers satisfaction!!
A nice clean large (by small town standards) store with aisles well marked to content. Staff was very friendly and answered questions with a smile. Salad bar was better than most restaurants and reasonably priced. I would return there again and again.
