Great office staff and both respectful and friendly. Both the Doctors was great with my family and answered all our questions. His Staff was great Annette and Kristie took their time with us to make sure everything we needed was taken care of. I highly recommend this office.

I walked out on my exam today. I thought I would give this office one more try and after today, never again. When I walked in for my appt., the office appeared to be in chaos with people waiting and staff just getting back from lunch. Previous visits have always been the same. The staff are not very professional and I felt more like a dollar sign than a patient. I waited about 15 minutes and was called back to the first exam room which was already in use by a woman with her waiting husband just sitting in one of the exam chairs. I asked for privacy while the test was being done and the husband just looked at me like he was not going to move. The technician asked if I wanted to wait until the room was empty and I said yes. When escorted back to the waiting room, I looked around and amid the continuing chaos, decided that Dr. Sitterle's office was not the place for me. You are asked to sign a HIPPA statement with your paperwork, and as a Privacy Officer myself, I can tell you, this office is far from compliant and privacy is not relative to just a piece of paper. It is the actions of staff also and from what I observed, had absolutely no trust with this group. I told the technician that I was leaving and would be going somewhere else. I would not recommend this office to anyone. There are many more O.D. out there who respect their patients and conduct themselves as professionals.

I have been Dr. Sitterle's patient for well over a decade and have relied upon his expertise and advice for my changing vision needs for all that time, especially since entering my senior years. He is very much a trusted friend but in case this sounds very serious, he also has a great sense of humor and always lightens up our visit while remaining professional. He keeps up with all the "latest and greatest" equipment that is available for vision evaluation, and his staff is attentive and caring. I would recommend Dr. Sitterle to anyone who asked me for a referral regarding vision care.

They have a nice office, and are prompt, state of the art equipment. However, they are somewhat impersonal, and seem a bit money driven. I had my eye exam done, and one of the test included having a super high resolution picture taken of my eyeball. They did the test, and at the end when it was time for eye Dilation, they gave me the choice to "Pay out of pocket" for the test they already gave me, or they could use chemical drops to dilate my eyes. It's kind of weird, they show you the picture of your eyeball, and encourage you to pay the extra, and if you refuse they just delete the picture/data and give you the drops, which are uncomfortable, and cause my eye to twitch for days. That was my initial experience there, they are also pretty expensive, as I ended up being billed about 240$ out of pocket, and they billed my insurance company an additional 400$. This was for glasses and an eye exam, they were designer glasses, with semi-rimless design, and I did get the Crizal anti-glare, these are expensive upgrades, but I still felt 400$ billed to the insurance was excessive. About 8 months later I decided to get LASIK surgery, I have a consultation booked as I write this, I did my due diligence and researched the top Lasik surgeons in San Antonio, that has lead me to Dr. Edward Rashid. I stopped by their office to get my previous medical records, as to have them in hand. I walked in and talked to the front desk lady and I said "I had an exam here 6-8 months ago, i'd like my medical records" and the first words out of her mouth were "Oh, your getting glasses somewhere else?" and I Replied "No, im having a LASIK consultation" she then replied "Oh, TLC or LASIK PLUS" and I told her Neither, she then asked for the Dr's Name, and she shrugged as if she had never heard of him. She then told me she'd have to have the dr sign off on my paperwork to have a seat int he waiting room. I told her no problem, and I had a seat, I could hear her yelling to the Dr in the other room "No he's not going to TLC or Lasik Plus, it's some other DR on Fredricksburg Rd". I shrugged, and continued to wait patiently, a few minutes later she approached me and told me the Dr. that gave me my eye exam no longer works there and she would not be able to release the records to me, she then asked me why I was not going to TLC, I explained to her that I had researched this Dr in detail, and that he provided quality, personalized care, I did not feel like I could get at a large, nationwide chain like facility. Not to mention this Dr. has countless recommendations, an excellent track record, and great user reviews. She then asked me how much he charges, and asked if I was sure I did not want to book an appointment for free with TLC or Lasik Plus. I told her no, and she said that the Dr. would have to contact them directly to get my records. She acted rather annoyed that she could not "Sell" me on either of their prefered lasik providers. The first thing you see when you walk in the door at this clinic is a Picture of Dr Sitterly and the Lasik DR at TLC (terry stuart?) standing next to each other, and it says "Dr. Sitterly had lasik in 1997 and still has 20/20 vision!" They obviously have a long relationship. I see that Dr. Sitterly will do a pre-exam, and then send you to TLC for sugery and then back to Sitterly for affter care. I personally don't want the DR that is programming the laser to cut my only pair of eye's to have NEVER even seen me before the day of the surgery, I want the DR that will operate on me to be the one who actually looks at me. Maybe that's too much to ask? I don't care about the bargain basement prices, I will pay more for quality, personalized (LASIK) care. Needless to say, despite a nice facility, excellent, top of the line equipment, and a well meaning Dr, I will not return to this place for care, and I will not recommend them to friends and family, and IF I am a good candidate for Lasik and proceed with my surgery I will not come back to them for after care or checkups.
