MedExpress Urgent Care - Pantops - Charlottesville
Reviews
Let me start by saying that I've always loved MedExpres. Having the urgent care option and convenience right here is GREAT! I've suggested other people try them and have never had a bad experience until this one... I was at MedExpress on Pantops in Charlottesville when I saw Dr. Minneci. I was diagnosed earlier in the week with strep throat and an ear infection. After taking the last of the Z pack, my sore throat and achy ear were better, but I developed a terrible cough that nothing could calm. I have a history of severe bronchitis and pneumonia so I went in to get the doctor's opinion. He came into the room and said, "I'll take a look at you since you're here, but I already know what's wrong." His first question to me, "Haven't you ever heard of Robitussin?" I was shocked. He never asked me what was wrong, how I felt, illness history, etc. After looking at my throat and ears he said, "you don't have strep and you don't have an ear infection. Who diagnosed you? A shaman?" My mouth dropped open and I let him know that I had been on the Z pack and everything that was hurting before had cleared up. His response, "Do you even know what a shaman is?" At this point I was in tears. He just stared at me and said, "What's wrong? Usually I only make 3 year olds cry." There were SO many more comments that I simply don't have the time to put into a review. My personal opinion, it's a waste of time to see this "doctor". He will make you feel stupid for asking for help, tell you that you're wrong, speak over you (and when I say speak it's basically a yell), make fun of you for being offended...just not a good doctor, not a nice person, terrible bedside manner.
Very friendly and very fast! We were here on vacation and ended up going to the doctor for strep. We were checked in and diagnosed within half an hour easy. They even filled the prescription there so we didn't have to go try to find a pharmacy and wait longer. We had Dr. Minecci. He was concise but thorough. He smiled a lot and was friendly, and even gave our children stickers for being so good.
I will never ever ever come back to this facility again. Dr. Peter Minneci is rude and unsympathetic. He truly could care less about his patients. His first mistake was walking over to my daughter's ipod and checking out the game she was playing while I was explaining my symptoms...really! I came in tonight because I have been fatigued for a couple days and after ruling out the flu, he told me - there's nothing more he can do for me and maybe I had a virus or just needed a vacation? seriously ... and throughout the visit he told me about his 12 hour days implying that he is the one who should be tired... Just FYI doctor, you patients don't care how long you have been at work - you probably make twice if not three times as much as I do so you are compensated for your 12 hour days. Please take my advise and never visit this place. Next time I will go to First Med where they actually care about the patient - it was my mistake in giving this place another chance.
Hands down one of the best health care experiences I've ever had! Woke up in pain on a Sunday morning during a holiday weekend and this place was open. They were fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I was very impressed and now prefer to bring my family here above other places in the area.
I wouldn't recommend this Med Express to my enemy - while I've been to a few walk in clinics, this is by far the worst experience I've had. While the front desk staff were unsympathetic and utterly unconcerned with expediting the check in process, it's the "doctor" that was the most worrisome. I had severe pain in my ear, while he initially and confidently diagnosed me with swimmers ear, he swiftly changed his diagnoses to TMJ within minutes. Not only was I not confident in his methodology - without warning or explanation he stuck his finger into my ear causing excruciating pain that left me crying. Bedside manners are not a priority at this "urgent" care clinic. Turned out the diagnoses I was finally given was wrong... I had swimmers ear the whole time and putting antibiotics on it would have fixed the problem. Instead, I was prescribed narcotics and sent a bill. If you can wait to see a real doctor... do it. Or drive to Richmond or Fredericksburg to visit a CVS minute clinic.
