Urgent Care Extra
Reviews
I work in the medical field. I know a certain amount of jargon that is thrown around in a medical environment. I went in for chest pressure and shortness of breath and walked out with a diagnosis of pleurisy (inflammation of the lining of the lungs) and pericarditis (inflammation of the lining of the heart). The latter is quite a huge diagnosis, however I was diagnosed by the doctor having me lean over and sit up a couple of times. I had a chest X-ray done and was told the my heart looked fine but was still diagnosed with such a harsh "condition". The doctor told me his was not a big deal and to not worry about it. Tell me when something about your heart was NOT a big deal!?! Either way, the staff seemed very nonchalant about the whole thing. I'm glad that I have more of an insight into the medical field so that I am not broadsided later, if (god forbid) my health should decline. I'm not saying that everyone needs to jump onto google the moment they get a diagnosis but just be informed about what is being told to you.
Great place if you want to see boobs and score narcotics! I went in to be treated for bronchitis. The nurse encouraged me to get a chest x-ray before the doctor ordered one (I did but regret doing so, though I am sure the doctor would have requested it anyway). The doctor came in and went through a list of drugs that he would like to prescribe, including Oxycontin, which I said no too because I am breastfeeding (and the side effects are worse than the pain for me). Let me remind you, I have bronchitis. No pain. Bronchitis. Narcotics will do nothing for bronchitis. The doctor gave me attitude because I was inconveniencing him as I was unable to take so many medications that would be unsafe for my child. Eventually he figured out what to give me($130 dollars in prescriptions later). As I was leaving the office, I look to the nurses station and what do I see but my chest x-ray up on one of the computer screens! Full side view, breasts and all. In the public area! Total invasion of my privacy! So, unless boobs and narcotics are more appealing to you than getting better, stay away.
I have to start out by saying that the people in the reception area and the doctors are great. I give them 4-5 stars. HOWEVER, the accounting office is completely messed up. They charged me twice for a visit after I had already mailed them a check that they'd cashed and then it took no less than 6 phone calls over a 4 week period to finally get them to refund the money they mistakenly took out of my account. Mind you, they automatically take money out your account whenever they please as they keep your card info on file. Then, this week I get an email telling me that they are taking $30 out of my debit account for a visit I had in June and it's now DECEMBER! They never sent me a statement for the $30, so at this point I can only assume that they are fraudulently charging me as I already paid my bill for $107 (twice). These people are so messed up. I DON'T recommend going to any of the Urgent Care Extra offices as you'll inevitably have to deal with the accounting offices at some point.
Everyone is very nice !!! but way to slow we waiting for 45 min in waiting room and another hour for the dr to come in to see us and another 30 min for discharge papers.
The Drs & nurse's are extremly thorough, professional & friendly! Their care and concern really shows. Maybe I got lucky but both times I visited the urgent care there was little to no wait! I would have to say by far the best UC I have ever been to, and unfortunately I have visited a lot...
