Walmart Supercenter
Reviews
Mixed review here. Since Walmart moved in, many "mom and pop" stores have been forced out of business. Of course, Monticello was never a beehive of activity to begin with, but our downtown is pretty sad now. That's why I rated appeal as poor, quality as good, and service as excellent. That said, Walmart is now one of the biggest, if not *the* biggest employers in the county. The workers we have encountered there have been unfailingly friendly and polite, just people doing their jobs and not afraid to go out of their way to help you find something or resolve an issue with a product. The cashiers, greeters and stockers, with the exception of one who always acts like she's doing you a favor to wait on you, are all personable and smiling. It also helps to remember, their last names are not Benson nor are they making big bucks working there. If you want to hate Walmart, fine, but don't take that out on the employees. They're just trying to support their families.
If you want a poor shopping experience with poor quality products then Wal-mart is it. If you want to visit a store that has several registers but prefer to save money and only have a few open, Wal-mart is it.
If you want a prime example of Wal-mart destroying more jobs than it creates. Look no further than the super Wal-mart in Monticello. This small town had only small businesses to help support it, and now these companies are suffering due to this awful company. If you think Wal-mart does anything to benefit our country or even little old Monticello, look again.
