I found the staff at Oklahoma Vet Specialists to be top notch during our difficult time with our pet. We had to bring our sick cat to the after hours clinic at Woodland West (also top notch) and it was determined she needed to be hospitalized next door at OVS for the best care. They guided us through all of the exams and testing and worked with us on the price. They even called in an after-hours technician to perform an ultrasound after midnight and called me immediately when the tests were in. It turned out that our poor cat had lymphoma and had to be put down the next morning. We saw a different doctor who performed the procedure with the utmost respect and empathy. It really helped us during our difficult time.

I plan on NEVER using this place again!!! This horrible experience happened six months ago. I have waited in writing this review to give myself some time to see things clearly. Here is my experience... I had a very sick dog that I took to this place per my Vet's instruction. My dog was carried into the facility and because he was able to walk out they were going to send him back home with no examination. I insisted on seeing a Veterinary (the only compassionate one there, dealt with several). After discussion with the Vet, an expensive blood test was taken, which I was told had to be sent off to California. We came back home on that Monday and that was the last time my dog walked into my house. I took him back twice to their facility only to be sent home with more meds. The third time I took him back he was admitted with Aspiration Pneumonia. They decided to hospitalize him and an hour later I received a call that he had died. At least the only compassionate Vet there called me to give me the news. Our hearts were broken. I had even asked before I left him and agreed to their medical plan treatment if it was time to put him down and they assured me they could pull him through. When I went back to pick up his collar I asked to speak with the Vet on the results of his blood test. Yes, my dog was gone, but I had a right to know the results. My dog died on Wednesday and the results were to be here on Thursday. On Saturday we were told the results were still not here. I had to call them the following Tuesday to speak with a Vet who showed no empathy in telling me the results. He also told me that since he had tested positive his chances of survival were slim. No one had ever mentioned this before to me in all my visits there. I was always told it wasn't time to put him down yet. I requested the results to be emailed to me. According to the date on the email the results arrived on Thursday, but they didn't bother to check or be honest with me when I asked them on Saturday. I literally watched my dog waste away under their care. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the support staff was helpful.

We took our dog Boomer to them on Sunday, and after $1700.00 of testing, he was diagnosed with high blood pressure. We picked him up on Wednesday after being told he was fine. Our sweet boy convulsed and then died in our arms 5 hours later. You decide if that was worth $1700.00. It is obvious that there was a lot more than high blood pressure (which they said they got under control) going on. For $1700.00 of testing we should have known what was wrong with him. They were nice to us. At least we got that for our money. Most reviews indicate misdiagnoses and $$$. Clearly there is a theme here.

THESE PEOPLE ARE ABSOLUTELY EVIL!!! They wanted $1,300 to do a blood transfusion on my 10 month old cat. And then told me she might need ANOTHER transfusion which would put me near the $2,000 mark. And there was no guarantee she would survive. In fact, it was pretty apparent by the tone of their voices and the delivery of the news, that the procedures would be done just to extend her life two or three days more. They even charged me for a procedure my home vet had given me to give to them just so they could make more money. As for compassionate care, Katelynn and the receptionist that swiped my debit card, were the only ones to show the smallest bit of warmth and sympathy. The rest, including the doctor, were cold. Although it's hard, I'm glad I chose to take my little girl back to her home vet where we humanely euthanized her before she had to endure anymore pain at this money-obsessed facility.

Beware! very greedy, extremely over priced and they do not care about the animal. They just want your money. I'm willing to pay a lot of money for my furry family to be taken care of, but that's not what happens here. I had a dachshund that was attacked by a dog and had holes all over his body. His injuries were covered in grass and dirt. So we rushed him to the nearest vet, this vet. Worst decision ever made. They took him back and did X rays and found the wounds allowed air inside his system and he needed to stay the night. They said my bill was at $450 and that If they were to continue I would be looking at another $2000. I'm a college student and they wouldn't allow me to make payments either. So I wanted to take him home to treat him myself, and they suggested I just put him down. I wasn't willing to do that. So they brought him to the front to me and expressed how awful of a person I was and how I didn't deserve to have pets. They had him back there for 2 hours and didn't even clean his wounds. I took him home and cleaned the wounds and treated him the way he should have been in the first place, and 3 weeks later he's completely healed and normal. Makes me sick that they wanted the $2500 or to put him down. They were extremely rude and made it very clear they didn't care about my boy.
