I haven't ever worked with another therapist--as a colleague or as a client--who is as direct, warm, kind, supportive, and who gets the work going early on. It is a hard process, even when people are in pain and "ready," to help them release the things they hang onto which are causing (or adding to) their pain, and help them grasp instead healthier, kinder-to-self habits. I have been a counselor myself, which makes me a bit of a hard sell; I can spot a "gimmick" or an ineffective therapist quickly, and my profession makes it hard for me to relax enough to make necessary changes. Mary Jane Walker not only has the interpersonal skills so necessary for a therapeutic relationship to "work," she has the experience and training. She is probably the best therapist I've known, and I've known quite a few.
